Draft vs QB

Recommended Posts

So I'm relatively new to NFL in terms of watching and knowing players, however ive been following for the last 3 year religiously. I get that we are a QB short of potentially being a Play off team or dare we say greater than that... my issue is giving up 2 1st or even a 1st... I love the draft, last year getting x3 1st was brilliant.

Can anyone convince me that losing a 1st or greater for a 38 year +Rodgers is good for us?

Many people will come in and post good arguments in favor of such a move as in, if you have no QB you can't win. (SF is proving this wrong)

My big beef with it is the guy we are going to sell the farm for and have to pay a massive contract to as well.

Rodgers had about his worst year as a GB QB last year and his last 6 or 7 game stats were 100% totally meh.  He gives me a total russel wilson i am falling off a cliff vibe.

I do not see a guy who is accountable at all and I do see a guy that will cause angst every year he is here.

To me he is a slightly better QB than Derrick Carr at this time but far more expensive to aquire and pay.

Will the jets be better with Rodgers than it would have been with the incumbents?  For sure.  But the cost and baggage the guy bring swill not be worth it.

Just my opinion

brett favre the year before the jets played all 16 games, finished 13-3 with 4155 yds, 28 tds, 15 ints,  66.5% completion, and 7.8 yds/att

aaron rodgers finished the season, played all 17 games, finished  8-9  with 3695 yds,  26 tds, 12 ints, 64.6 completion, and 6.8 yds/att.

okay, maybe he did lose something for 2021 to 2022 or maybe the green bay team was without the talent.  he didn't have anyone put up anywhere near the receiving yards of adams in 2021.  in any case, what he did is a damn sight better than any jets qb since fitzy.

To me, I don't understand why we would pay alot of money, use alot of draft capital on a player that wasn't great last season and is ageing for a Nfl player.

Like I said previously, I love the draft, my personal preference is keep our 1st's, if we get Rodgers cheap I.e 2nd or 3rd  then all good. If not get a Carr.. jury is out on him, I understand, but shouldn't cost us any 1st in the draft.

I’m not convinced it’s a good idea either. The most I would like to us to give up for Rodgers is two 2nds. For Carr a 3rd.

If Rodgers were younger, it would make sense to give up more since we would have time to build up the remaining parts of the team. As it stands, we need that first to address OT.

We are not an Rodgers away from being serious contenders. We are Rodgers plus an OL away. And Rodgers likely plays only two more years.

Rodgers kind of makes sense if you think Zach can be salvaged in two years.

Pretty amazing mid-season run.

But it was short lived and the thrill was over quick.

Thursday night OT win against the Pats followed by the win at TN was incredible.  Thought we were going to the SB until his arm fell off.
