yeah and if Nathaniel Hackett was named Nathaniel Jones he'd be right there with him

honestly I think MLF is a better coach than Nathaniel Hackett and time will bear this out

I think MLF will def end up being a better coach if he has self awarness and learns from his mistakes.

The mistake was letting your bosses stick you with an all-time bust quarterback and no viable backup options.

meh I think he wasn't very flexable and also not a great communicator....expecting a 33 yr old to get it right the first time was the Jets mistake but he wasn't good.... coaching isn't all about drawing up plays.

Great move for him.  Always thought he wasn't ready to be a full time OC with a first time Defensive HC.   Now he has a chance to go to the next level and get supported by the HC and the players.   He was on an Island with the Jets and he had a lot of young immature players to manage and a HC who didn't exactly create a disciplined environment.  Camp cup cake and a lot of slogans, not a lot of descipline.

McVay is a top NFL HC and he's going to be in a great environment for a young coach working with some great veteran talent who know what it takes.

Doesn't make it the wrong decision.  Night and day situation going to the Rams where you have an offensive minded H.C. who calls plays.  No doubt MLF is a promising offensive mind but we were not in a situation to let him grow into the job anymore, I really think it's that simple.

MLF was not offered an extension, whereas others that remained here had a year tacked onto their deals. That was an indication to MLF that he wasn't wanted here even though he wasn't fired.

Saleh's initial plan was to hire a guy in a senior role while adding some more experienced QB teachers to the staff. It also gave the team an ability to move on from LaFleur and promote that staff member to OC mid-season if things didn't get off to a good start. It became a manufactured arrangement, and given how toxic it became they determined there wasn't a great path forward.

LaFleur had a chance to get out of here and go to a better situation. He took it.

All this garbage about him “not communicating” is the typical BS you here from stiffs like Elijah Moore, and people trying to justify Zach being an epic bust.

At the end of the day, McVay grabbed him as soon as he could. We got Hackett. I’ll go with McVay’s opinion all day.

Funny how everyone said MLF was fired and the team said it was mutual for other opportunities and no one believed them. MLFs job in LA is fluff. He’s a good guy. Players like him. He will be working with all veterans as they never have young players there. They were a sh*t show last year and are an aging team with little upside. But good for MLF getting that position. He is a terrible play caller and doesn’t develop QBs. Doesn’t need to do that in LA.

He's going to crush it there while we're calling draws on 2nd and 18. Good for JD to release an offensive mind that one of the best offensive minds immediately hires to his staff.

He might.

He also doesn't have to develop a QB, he has Stafford there who has been in the league for 10+ years, and McVay who will watch over his shoulder the entire time.

So.........The BieberZach is developable? And MLF is responsible for his undevelopement?

@playtowinthegame also…

That’s not the point though, is it? The point was that Saleh was apparently telling the truth when he said LaFleur told him he had better career options available to him, and he wanted to take one of them.

Jet fans can try to spin this as much as they want, but LaFleur made a smart career move getting out of here, and now we get to convince ourselves that LaFleur was the reason our offense stunk, and Hackett is an upgrade who will save the day by bringing Aaron Rodgers here to win multiple Super Bowls.

You're right. The Rams offense has a lot of potential now that Mikey Lafleur is there.

Same as the Jets now that we have Hackett … amirite?

Robert Saleh's best man is Matt Lafleur. Saleh allowed his best man's kid brother to go out with grace instead of getting fired. BOTTOM LINE Mike Lafleur wasn't ready to be the OC with complete control over a young roster. Mike Lafleur was in over his head with the Jets. Now Mike Lafleur gets to rehab with the L.A. Rams as their "OC" with one of the best offensive minds in the NFL, Sean McVay. What's so hard to understand about that? On the other hand, the Jets are clearly going the veteran route with OC and eventually QB. I wish Mike Lafleur the best, but I'm glad he's gone.

Pretty lame plan.  If things go south mid-season next year Saleh should be canned.   There should be no scenario with or without Lefleur as the OC where Saleh is off the hook for the team if it goes off the rails next year.

Lefleur made the right move to get out from under Saleh.   He was setting him up to take the fall for him.

Certainly debatable whether it is a better position to end up as an OC who will never call plays, on a team who did even worse this year, and might have a QB problem if Stafford has a continuing back injury or injury risk.

Leaving a Saleh staff to join a McVay staff is like going from the fry cook at McDonalds to a line chef at a 4 star restaurant.

Yup,  I will be glad Saleh is gone if he sh*ts the bed again next year.

He developed Mike White into a capable NFL backup who would be out of the league without him.

That’s nothing but your opinion, so it’s fine. You’re entitled to believe whatever you want.

In another universe however, one of the 5 best HC’s in the NFL chose that guy you’re talking about as his OC, didn’t he?

Just out of curiosity, how many coaches do you think would kill for that opportunity?
