Many many people had him at pick 2 well before the pro day. 1

He was viewed as a #2 pick by many way before his pro day. Everybody saw his amazing play in college and then saw a throw that most people couldn't make even in shorts and that was kind of it. If this Zach Wilson guy could throw with that amount of accuracy in the NFL, that was something nobody could pass up. Unfortunately it never came through.

C Mart
Albert Breer @AlbertBreer 5.16 Day After Notes ? Speaking of May, next week is a big one as far as offseason programs—with the start of actual football practice. Officially, it’s the beginning of Phase III for most teams, which is when 11-on-11, 9-on-7 and 7-on-7 drills are allowable for the first time. And while that stuff is still voluntary, this is the point in the calendar where veterans being absent becomes a bit more significant.

There been numerous articles about the Zach pro day and how it solidified his 2 pick Without pro days he still would have been the 2nd ranked QB coming out that year. Pro Days are important because you see how a QB interacts with players, you get to speak with him and on the field you get to see his physical skills, arm strength, accuracy, how the ball comes out of his hand. Pro Days aren’t going away.
