Is Aaron Rodgers to the Jets Really Happening?

One thing I’ve been told that I am pretty ok with sharing: it may not just be Aaron, and it would not be cheap.

I'd be curious if that would be a Rodgers demand, a Jets desire or a GB salary dump negotiation to offset the Jets refusal for three #1 picks?

I’m not saying you are right…but I’m not saying you are wrong, lol.

Please please please let this post be a reminder that I’m not 100% on any of this, and I’m just passing along what I’ve heard.  I want Rodgers as much as anyone, but even if the person sharing this has never steered me wrong, I have never had anything this impactful presented to me.  I just don’t want to eat sh*t on the main board if something falls through.

None because the Jets are no where near being competitive for a Super Bowl.

A very "doesn't matter anyway" kinda attitude, Eeyore.

So....if we're post-season uncompetitive as is (which we are), uncompetitive with Rodgers (debatable), and uncompetitive with any other QB (also debatable), we may as well at least be entertaining, right?

After all, we're gonna spend to the cap, so why not do it in an entertaining way?

Ok so put yourself in JD’s shoes. Short years left on contract and on hot seat. So his incentive to bring in a bargain QB or run it back with the room from last year is…?

Because in two years I don't want the team right back to being a dumpster fire having to start another 2-3 year rebuild.

I'd rather them build up the areas of the team that are lacking (OL, Secondary, LBs, WR, TE, etc) so that when another FA QB is available, the team would actually have a chance to do something.

Who says he's on a hot seat?

It'll just be a typical Tuesday. Relax. Nothing to be ashamed if you're wrong.

Which FA QB is that, that is so good we should get in 2025?

Also what stops us from getting better while enjoying a Rodgers? We’re not giving up all our picks and cap, we’re still gonna draft a lot of guys.

Taking a step back, remind me, who is your opening day #1 QB for 2023?

Meaning there might be a different QB that we also might be pursuing (and it won't be cheap)?

So someone cheap now.

Then a FA star who will make us more competitive than Rodgers and Carr, and will also come cheap. In 2025

Got it.

I’ve been given a “hopeful” one that would be sooner rather than later, but this is, quite honestly, the biggest thing that I’ve been given as far as intel goes (obviously; it’s Aaron Rodgers we’re talking about) and I am not comfortable with getting into specifics.  I have always mentioned “fluidity” of situations when divulging anything I hear, and this is such a large one, that I’m not even close to being able to get into specifics beyond “there are positive talks between the Jets and the Packers if you are pro-getting Rodgers.”

Any deal for Rodgers would HAVE to be sooner rather than later, for the simple fact that the NYJ aren't going to sit on the sidelines while the rest of the FA QB's like Carr and Garropolo find new homes, while GB and Rodgers figure out their relationship/NFL life....they just cannot do that.

IMO, ANY deal for Rodgers with GB will happen SOON, or it won't happen at all.

Not necessarily.  But when the team is actually prepared for a championship run.
