And that is why finding a young franchise qb is the only gold.

What did you say after last years SB?

The same thing I’m saying now…. The rams had the benefit of only having to beat the winner of the afc qb gauntlet, at home.  That model in the new afc with mahomes, burrow, Allen, Lawrence, Hebert is delusional.

They beat Burrow.
What would you like them to do, also beat Mahomes and others.

Agreed.  You might be able to steal a game against guys like Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Trevor, Herbert, Deshaun (assuming he rebounds), Lamar (assuming he's healthy), but winning 2-3 games against that competition with a much lesser QB is highly unlikely.

If the jets stay in the afc then yes, it likely is a must.  It you can get us into the nfc south then you are right.

I agree completely. If you want to compete against mahomes, burrow, Allen, Herbert, Lamar, Lawrence, Watson etc, Derek carr ain’t cutting it. You need to draft and develop a qb thru the draft.

Aaron rodgers probably gets us to the playoffs and possibly delays having to draft a qb by a year. but in the end we need to draft and develop a qb.

Jimmy g, Carr, Aaron rodgers or whatever free agent qb we sign isn’t a long term answer. even if we sign a rod I don’t think he makes us a Super Bowl contender.

So who are you drafting then?

Need the right coaching to develop said QB also

This is the key!

I wanted Mahomes drafted by the Jets, I did, but it was extremely telling when after the game on ESPN post-game the MVP of the league said he has a secret weapon in Andy Reid.

Mahomes specifically said he learned the NFL game from Reid and was developed by him.

Indeed, those of us who think that Mahomes would have been great under Jermey Bates or Adam Gase on the Jets are delusional.

Coaching matters and for both teams the Eagles and the Chiefs it showed!

Lmao
All I saw last night was that terrible logic that “running QBs don’t win” get totally destroyed.

You old dinosaur fans need to catch up to the modern day NFL and kill that crap forever, Hurts made y’all look terrible tbh
That is because you had two running backs playing... Had a more pocket oriented guy like Burrow been playing you could not have said that.

We also need a QB that is not afraid of getting hit or stepping into the pocket.

wow....what a revelation, lol. why didn't they think of that? maybe the problem is that drafting a young franshise qb isn't all that easy. so in the mean time finding a vet that can win games for you and give you a chance to go all the way is the next best option. neither one os easy though.......actually winning the superbowl is generally very difficult.

Agreed. 100 percent. Not all QBs fail cause of coaching but I’d bet almost no QBs succeed and develop with bad coaching

Sure but don't ignore the fact that the Chiefs brought in Alex Smith while Mahomes was getting warmed up.

true that you gotta find the right guy but look at both mahomes and hurts.  anyone want to take hurts over mahomes?  i sure don't.  mahomes is like a magician they way he plays.  hurts is certainly competent but you take away his running ability and he's toast.  not to say that mahomes can't run but not as well and not on his bad ankle.  the bottom line is it's still a team sport and there is a certain threshold the qb needs to meet.

Hurts is really damn good, and young and should only get better. Yes, he runs a lot, but he is a really good passer a well. Not being quite as good as Mahomes is not a knock at all, Mahomes may be the greatest of all time when all is said and done. I would absolutely love to have Hurts as our QB, given we had an OC who knew how to use him

This is a very lazy analysis of Hurts’ game.
How many players IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL would you take over Mahomes?

You guys with these “let’s see what they look like in a few years after getting injured” are

1. clueless about the actual % of injuries inside vs outside the pocket

2. completely unaware about how the game is evolving offensively.
Mobile QBs are becoming more and more the norm, for multiple reasons, not the least of which are the amount of time it takes to develop “pocket QBs’s” and the scarcity of them available out of college.
