The Rams traded Goff, 2 first round picks & a third round pick for then 33 year old Stafford.

The Jets would not have to trade any assets for soon to be 32 year old Carr.

More stats for those who care.  For those who don’t, why are you even at this point?

And by the way, I’m not team Derek.  I’m just sick of headline narratives.  If you want to look closer between 2 guys who seem to be very comparable, then you might have found this interesting.

Here’s another note:  Derek Carr’s defenses have given up 24-30 points per game every year in his career.  In no year has this even ranked in the top 20 teams and mostly 25-32.

Interestingly Matthew Stafford has had a few decent-good defenses in his time but mostly been in a similar situation to Carr before being traded to the Rams.

Bad defense might excuse a poor won-loss record, but it certainly will help in the yards per game stat.

Did Stafford have familiarity with McVay?  Discuss.

One went to a situation that was a good fit, another is looking to leave a situation that was not a good fit.

My point is Stidham played 2-3 games so he’s not a statistically relevant comparison point and there’s some historical context worth considering.

Carr had the No 1 running back in the league last year, great weapons and his production declined.   He wasn't good last year.

His one playoff game the year before he wasn't good.

I dont think Stafford wins a SB with this Jets team and coaching staff.   I think Stafford is a lot more talented than Carr.

Damn I thought I was a negative Jets fan.  Apparently not after reading a majority of replies in this thread.

Enjoy Jacoby Brissett and Zach Wilson people.

Who's fault is it that Carr isn't JD's first choice, and the Jets are not Carr's first choice?

It’s unreal.  People take time to pull stats and open it up for discussion yet the discussion mostly goes nowhere.

For whatever reason, he wasn’t good last year.  I’m not debating that.

Im suggesting that a change of scenery might be good, much like it was for Stafford.

Maybe Carr didn’t fit the style of play, maybe he felt constrained by no longer having the audible, I don’t know enough about why it didn’t work.

Stats over 10 years tell you their productivity has been similar on teams with similarly bad defenses.  Zach also might be more talented than Carr but that doesn’t mean he’s a better Qb.

The next time Carr is in NJ he'll be playing against the Jets or the Giants.

You might be right, that’s not the point of this thread.  I believe the Jets are smart for showing interest in both Carr & Rodgers and that Carr might be a good fit if the Jets gain a better (positive) understanding of his personality, desire to win and how he has performed in cold weather.
