Basically allows us to see Zach or extend Carr for the new market rate

Barry McCockinner
35/year is the basic min for a good vet QB in 2023. It's basically a bargain at this point.

FidelioJet
If this is true and if it's true the Jets made him an offer - and if that offer is s less than 35 to 40 per - then the Jets aren't serious about wanting Carr. 4 years 35 to 40 per, with 100mm guaranteed. If the Jets offered anything less than that - then they are all in on Rodger and not really interested in Carr.. This would be a no brainer contract...
Popular Post doitny
who cares what hes worth. i think some of you are still not living in reality. Rodgers , Lamar, and Tannehill are NOT available. its either Carr or Brissett. even broken Jimmy will get around 35 mil a year to play 10 games. and Carr refused to be traded making 40 mil a year so i doubt he asked for less. and why do so many want 2-3 years? QBs can play till there 36-37. why not give him a 5 year deal. 40-45 mil will be a huge bargin by that time. then we dont have to draft his replacement till his 4 year. otherwise were going to have to draft his replacement by next year. and if the plan is your worried about signing GW well you might want to have a QB who can get him the damm ball when its time to sign him. this is where Rodgers is killing us. Woodys in love with him and if not for that Woody would have stepped in and told JD to give Carr what he wants. lets hope he wakes up before its too late. 4

I agree with all of this except I do think Rodgers will be available. I'm pretty confident Rodgers is leaving - just a matter of where and for how much. Personally, I think it would be an absolutely awful decision to trade for Rodgers but I do think he'll be traded. 1

You may be right. I agree trading premium picks for Rodgers would be a mistake. If the price was a lit yes then yeah no problem but no ways no trading the 13th pick plus for him. As for Carrie may not be the “sexy” name like Rogers and Lamar but he had proven to be capable which us all we need without reading a ton of assets. I mean he will have a a little if young weapons, we can use our draft capital to keep building the oline, and unlike the Raiders we have a very good young defense

Under the current Jets situation Rodgers, IMO, will be a disaster move. 4

Popular Post Warfish
I think @bitonti and @jgb are right, there is a large portion of our fan base who just flat out doesn’t want to pay avg. market rates for good players, our own FA or others. 5

Yes, the salary cap implications are overestimated by many. Of course it's very important but there are a lot of ways to manipulate it. You need impact players to win and if you're lucky enough to have access to them in FA or internal - pay them!

Carr just worries me because not sure he has the mindset to deal with the media and he doesn’t seem to okay well in crappy weather. We’ll see. There are just sooooo many red flags with Rodgers - that in hindsight are going to look incredibly obvious. Far more than Carr. How many cold weather games (the level of cold you're referencing) did the Jets' play last year? The Raiders were in a big market almost his entire career, not NY but surely not a small market. Carr surely isn't what Rodgers USED to be but he's a very good NFL QB that will keep the Jets competitive and for the next 4 years. 6

Daniel Jones has more playoff wins than Carr, I think. Plus Jones will contend he has yet to hit his ceiling, while Carr has reached his ceiling and may be on the downside of his career. While I think 2023 Carr is certainly worth $35 million, the more important factors are years, guaranteed money and trade clause.
