  5. 5. Who is your # 5 choice for the Jets' QB1 job in 2023?

Last week, Max posted a poll asking you who your # 1 choice at QB would be:

193 of us voted, and the resulting top 3 were:  1) Rodgers (44.6 %), 2) Carr (25.4 %); 3) Jackson (10.9 %).

But what I'd like to know is whether there's consensus on who JN could live with at QB, as represented by a top 5 wishlist.

What's your list, JN?

Carr

Rodgers

Tannehill

Jimmy G

Lamar

The only reason lamar is 5th is due to contract and cost to obtain.  He would take a kings ransom and we would have to give him the deshaun watson contract.

Jimmy G will get too much money for how good he is, would rather have tannehill.

Carr over Rodgers due to stability and cost to obtain.

1. Lamar - extended Super Bowl window

2. Rodgers - maybe 1-2 year Super Bowl window

3. Carr - playoff contenders without giving up draft capital

4. Minshew - competitive and cheap but meh

5. Mike White - well, this would kind of be a disaster.

Option X: Bryce Young or CJ Stroud inexplicably start to fall in the draft. Trade up and grab ‘em. Also if Levis is there at 13 I wouldn’t mind taking a swing provided he wows at the combine.

All depends on compensation.

1) Rodgers for a 2nd rounder plus a restructuring of his contract

2) Carr for 3yr $90M

3) Tannehill for a day 3 pick

4) Andy Dalton for 2yr $8M/year

5) Jacoby Brissett for 2yr $8M/year

Lamar is not happening. So don’t even entertain a potential. But he’d be number 1 if he actually becomes available.

Don’t want any part of Rodgers waaay too risky

Carr isn’t worth the money he’s asking nor is anyone else for that matter

Read somewhere that Jimmy G is looking for 25-30 million so to me he is a viable option as he’s the best one after Rodgers and Carr and not potentially putting Jets in cap he’ll

Draft a developmental QB in the upcoming draft and sign Mayfield / Winston in no particular order as bridge QBs

Dalton

1. Rodgers

2. Lamar

3. Carr

If we land none of the above?  Woody should step in and do whatever is necessary to guarantee a top 5 pick next year.  Put spending limits in place, cut people, idgaf anymore.  I’m so sick of not having a QB.

Not entirely a consensus but so far the top 5 is shaping up to be:

1.  Rodgers

2.  Carr

3.  Jackson

4.  Jimmy G

5.  Tannehill

I am getting a jersey that says:  Mr Jackson when you're nasty.

Rodgers - Keep dreaming

Lamar - Keep taking mushrooms

Carr - drink green antifreeze

M White - Get a new health plan

Zach - get a neuro-psych evaluation

Lamar - Get a new GM

Jimmy G - See Mike White

Geno - Sign Ik

D Jones - see Lamar

Tannehill - give up a 3rd - 2 years 60M - 25 Guaranteed - DEAL

1. Tannenhill - assuming the Titans want to move him, he’ll be the cheapest in terms of any compensation to get him, will require less money, and will be easiest to move on from. Would also allow us to draft our next qb of the future in 2024, and potentially have bargain QB play from 2025-2028. He’s the perfect bridge qb.

2. carr. Him and Tannenhill are basically the same player. Saw something recently that carr is only looking for 35 mill per year. If that’s the number, I’m ok committing to him for the next 3-5 years. If he needs 42-45mill, I’d move him down the list.

3. Rodgers. For a 2 year window, the most talented of options. He’s a drama queen so that’s an issue. Has highest ceiling of all the options but also probably lowest floor.

4. jimmy G. View him similar to Tannenhill but more injury prone. Say what you want, when he plays, his teams win games.

5. Voted other, but don’t really know who else I’d want here. I know it’s not lamar jackson though. As talented as he is, the draft / player compensation needed + the money with the downside of his injury history makes him way to risky. If he were a free agent, it would be one thing but he’s not. Lamar is an awesome player, he’s fun to watch but I’ll watch him on someone else’s team.
