The NFL reviews "roughing the passer"

Bronx

Gotta tell ya, I've been watching some XFL.  They do live look in on reviews, and explain what they see was they're doing it.  Really neat stuff.  The access they give to the players is next level.  Last nights game they had players mic'd up dropping F bombs like they were going out of style on ESPN and thought it was funny.  Product is actually, quite good.  Lots of former NFL players/Coaches and they're like, taking it serious.

Might ditch the NFL for XFL.

I’m not sure. Just my luck I switch and the team I choose picks up Zach Wilson. I’ll catch a couple games. Holy crap! Only 8 teams. Local team here though.

Yeah, I was really enjoying that AFL league or whatever it was a few years ago. Me and my kids were starting to get into the Orlando Apollos. And then, poof. ?

I wouldn’t say any of those in the video above were roughing. The only ones I would have issue with are those where the qb ( or any ball carrier) is lifted and slammed to the ground.  And one way to eliminate some of this is by paying more attention to in the grasp rules and intentional grounding.  Too many times it seems like a qb is wrapped up or being pulled down by a defensive players but still manages to throw the ball for an incomplete pass instead of a sack. And too many times a qb is out of the pocket and throws the ball to no one.

I knew they’d get it right this time. Dwayne Johnson gets it.

The little bit I've watched, it doesn't look bad.

Insane that we did not benfit from ONE roughng the QB call all year.

Almost statistically impossible.  At this roughing the passer symposium they should pull up tape of every Jets game and use it as an example of how to hit the QB late, in the head, or just plain viciously in a manner where it will not be called.  Then the coaches of the Jets 14 opponents can lead a seminar on how to play within the rules.  Rule # 1 of course is to just play the Jets.

Week after week, just stunned watching a late hit or hit to the head ona Jets QB and no call. Yet we breathe on anyone and it was a flag. You can argue that the turning point of our season was the questionable late hit by JFM on the Pats that took back the pick 6. I am hoping that with Sauce and Garrett winning rookie of the year and Joe Klecko finally being accepted to the HOF we start to gain some respect.

Yes that was a major turning point but on the other hand you can't win games not scoring points on offense. The league is built on fantasy points and over/unders it's not built for defensive victories anymore

if we are talking turning points the injury to AVT/Breece in the same game was as real kick to the crotch

What you wrote makes total sense. AVT/Breece going down was an absolutly cruel act by the football gods to Jets fans. Almost cant make it up it was so cruel.  Sports are a funny animal when it comes to pivotal plays. If the pick 6 stands, do we beat the Pats? Maybe/probably. Does beating the Pats give Zach slightly more confidence and instead of going down a deeper hole (like what happened) he finds a way to keep his head above water and improve.. We will never know.

I hate seeing these catches called incomplete because the ball moved a little in the hands. If the ball doesn't hit the ground at any point it should be determined a catch.

what is a catch?

it's like how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop

the world may never know

I’m not the one calling pro football a pussified game, am I?

I played baseball at a D-I school, I know better than to belittle playing a game like football at any level the way you did.

Golf, baseball...pretty good at holding sticks.
