If the Seahawks didn't franchise Geno, I'd kidnap him during

the legal tampering period and force him to sign. Off their

last 20 starts he has been a better QB than Rodgers or Carr.

Competing over 69% of his throws, 35 TDs, 12 ints and finishing

just behind Allen in PFF's big time throws

Sounds like it could be literally anyone

I am definitely warming to the idea of Daniel Jones.  Not at 45 million or anywhere near that,  but would be a huge upgrade with upside.

Carr then Jones

Jones will be tagged though

I hate to admit it, but he'd be my choice if they can't land one of the big 3 - AR, LJ & DC.

There's nothing to hate about it. He's young, talented, tough, mobile, and played well with good coaching and a horrible offensive roster.

That goes a long way...but I can't see the Giants letting him go. He'll get the franchise tag at the very least if a long-term deal isnt figured out.

Via Breer

There’s nothing imminent between Derek Carr and the Jets, and there’s a reason for that. Carr had a really good visit last Friday night and Saturday with the team’s brass in Jersey, and they left it with this understanding—both parties were going to take their time in making what’s a big decision for each side.

The Jets know that Carr, analytical as can be in how he’s treating his first foray into free agency, is going to visit with other teams and consider all his options. And the Jets, I’m told, let Carr know that they’ll be methodically surveying what’s out there at quarterback, and that first means waiting to see what materializes between Rodgers and the Packers, and then keeping their eyes open about the possibilities for them at the position.

To this point, the good news, is there are options for both parties.

For Carr, the money he’s seeking is a significant factor. He had three years and $116.3 million left on his Raiders deal, or $38.77 million per year. The Raiders couldn’t trade him because no one was willing to inherit that contract (with $32.9 million guaranteed this year and $7.5 million next), and if he’s now asking for $35 million per (ESPN reported he is), it’d stand to reason it might be hard for him to find that. So my guess, based on what the market told us, would be he’ll be a starter somewhere, but at less money than he wants.

As for the Jets, it seems clear that Rodgers (under the right circumstances) would be their first choice, but this isn’t an Aaron-or-bust situation. They’re exploring everything, from Rodgers and Carr, to Ryan Tannehill and Jimmy Garoppolo, to even the idea of bringing Geno Smith back or luring Daniel Jones from across town. Part of it, as I see it, lies in how the quarterback market shakes out, which brings us to our next takeaway …

Derek Carr becomes more attractive as the price and years drop from what I was reading initially....looking more like 30-35 mil for a few years rather than 5 for 40 like lunatics were throwing around.   The league doesn't view Derek Carr as this 1st ballot HOFer that they are going to hand the franchise over to the way some fans and media do.

but he is in the Daniel Jones category. after so many bad years he has a really good one. is this who he really is right now or was it a flash in the pan. to much at stake to risk it imo.

There have been various threads about whether a QB is worth $35mm, $40mm, or more.

You can say that they are because of what the market is.

But I think teams are realizing that you need at least 21 other players to play this sport, and it is only the great QBs who make average players above average who are worth the serious money.  There should be more QBs making $20mm-$30mm so that their teams can sign more good players.

all it takes is one lunatic owner to want him and overpay to make sure he gets the best QB on the market.

its not that Carr is a 1st ballot HOF, its the hugh drop off between him and the next best option in Brissett or Minschew.

I think Jones is going to get tagged. It is less money on a one year than he wants on a long term deal. Does that mean Barkley walks though? That would hurt them a lot.
