Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, and Rex Hogan are the leaders of the Aaron Rodgers train, so I’m not sure how much I trust this. I do think there are people that liked the Carr option better, but to suggest that they’re only in on A-Rod is because of Woody is not true

I would dare say Nathaniel Hackett is part of that goon squad as well when you consider it's  why he has a job right now.

There's plenty of panic.  But it seems to be limited to this board.  If the Jets successfully bring Rodgers into the fold without overpaying, which seems to be a fairly likely outcome, all of the chest-beating will have been for nothing.

This was always going to take some time.  In fact, I believe there are factors that could dictate a deal be agreed to but not executed until June 1.  It would help GB with the cap hit and might be worth a lower overall price to the Jets.  Not sure if that's acceptable or the risk of someone changing minds is too high so I'm guessing it gets done in the next 9 days but we'll have to see.

I do know it's not worth getting ramped up about until we find out how it plays out.  Then there will be plenty of time for torches and pitchforks if appropriate.

Thanks for the 'voice of reason' updates.  Much appreciated.

?‍♂️I'm panicked and not ashamed

Alright---What the F is going on there right now?  Any panic at all in the building?

Or is it just a matter of time now with some final negotiations? Or has Rodgers still not given an answer?

I feel like if they officially pulled out of Carr like it's being reported that they are very sure about Rodgers..

man I hope you are right because this could end really ugly if this is a woody only thing.

Woody is absolutely all in on it but the narrative that the Jets wanted Carr and Woody blocked it is bogus. They've long agreed that their top option is Rodgers with Garoppolo as the backup plan > impatiently signing Carr. They asked Carr to wait but they didn't realistically expect him to

This is 100% the front office sending this message out as cover if Rodgers decides to stay in GB or retire. It's the same move they made when they went on an all out blitz to scapegoat LaFleur for JD missing on Zach Wilson.

Very few people will accept Jimmy Glass as a suitable alternative to Rodgers and Carr. And I 100% believe Jimmy G will be going to LV to run a familiar offense. I don't care what anybody says, they're panicking right now.

They just said on PTI that Derrick Henry is being shopped?  Is Tennessee insane if not for him the last few year they are a bottom of the barrel team.

There is some viable wisdom in selling a RB before he declines.  They might be aiming to suck for a year to get in on the Crash for Caleb lottery next season.

How about Geno Smith getting paid a decade later. Gotta respect the hustle

It's amazing how Geno looked like Russ and Russ looked like Geno.  Is there something about that Pacific Northwest air?

Keeping Tannehill and shopping Henry.

Their second leading rusher had 145 yards on the season.

Agreed.  McGovern quickly moved from my underrated to overrated category and the lack of cohesiveness on blitzes and stunts is a reflection of our center's inability to communicate and call out assignments within the scheme.  I haven't seen any improvement in this over 3 years.

Plus the Jets might be moving away from a zone heavy scheme which fits his athleticism.  They also need a better pocket on passing downs and some push on short yardage running downs.

Let's get a Center who can anchor & communicate to help solidify the interior before moving on to a 4th Offensive Tackle we can throw into the competition or at the very least valuable depth.

In my 50+ years as a Jets fan, the best teams I have rooted for have always had a really good to great Center anchoring the OL (Schmidt, Fields, Sweeney, Mawae, Mangold, etc). This trend of not investing heavily in a Center as a critical position for the OL seemed to start with McCags and has largely followed thru to Douglas.  I don't get it...

That’s the obvious hole, that’s all I’m saying. Put a pro bowl caliber player in the center of the OL? I think that’s easily your biggest bang for your OL buck. I did read that the Jets might be in a good spot in the second round if they wanted to target a center there, but I’m not going to pretend I’m studying the draft.

Yea I think the draft is where we will look. This seems like a deep class, I like about 4 or 5 guys that could be had in the first 3 to 4 rounds. The Jet fan from OSU would be fun haha

Anyone have details on Rodgers contact, specifically in 2024.

If he plays in 2024 what's his cost.

I know it's $58 upfront this year - does any of that $58 go to next years salary?

But what does he get paid in 2024?

Basically what I'm asking is total guarantee/cap hit over the two years.

For the record, so you know I'm not being lazy.   I did try to figure it out on my own, but this didn't really clear it up for me.

Disagree. I think the Panic started when Zach sh*t the bed against NE and it was LIMITED to JD's job.

Thank you!

So what you're saying is the $58 we have to pay this year - actually covers two years cap hit/salary? That seems too good to be true.

I mean if that's the case - this deal is actually fantastic.  Assuming he plays next year.

I would think that if the Jets wanted to make a blue chip splash on the OL, that it would be at the center position. That’s where they have the most obvious hole, starter and backup.

Just draft Schmidt with 2nd rounder. He'd lock down the C position for the next decade.

If Rodgers only plays 1 year he'll leave the Jets with $44.6 Million in dead cap, if he plays 2 he'll leave then with $29.7 million in dead cap
