Aaron Rodgers to the Jets rumor: Merged

Recommended Posts

He's trolling and people are falling for it.

He has no obligation to tell the truth to anyone. He can say anything he wants to to anyone. You're not supposed treat everything athletes say as gospel truth.

They're meatheads that have been millionaires since 21. They're dumb and out of touch.

What's interesting is that this is not true, even though Rodgers said it on McAfee.

Rodgers was on McAfee in late January/early February saying:

"the Packers are having conversations without me, which is interesting"

Which means he's lying about this, likely lying about the 90% retired thing, and in all likelihood is using this as motivation this season. I love it.

He's definitely full of sh!t regarding the timeline of the Packers front office, but who cares if it lites a fire in him.

I live up here.   Small town.   I’ve heard Rodgers was made aware of the teams desire to move on to Jordan Love when he met with them after the last game.   Apparently everyone in the world knew they were moving on but Aaron.

Thank you everyone for your Service.

I may be a bit dense, but I listened to Play Like A Jet while jogging around Hyde Park in London today.  I came away with two thoughts:

  • Rodgers was so angered that the Packers/Gutekunst drafted Love rather than a WR (like Higgins, Aiyuk or Pittman, who were there) that he went off to have 2 MVP seasons.  With another WR, maybe it was the Packers in the SB.
  • Rodgers came out of the Darkness ready to retire.  Before going into the Darkness, the Packers told him they supported whatever he wanted to do.  When he got out of the Darkness, these morons at the Packers basically were saying they were done with Rodgers.   He immediately decided to play for the Jets.

This is one narcissistic proud Dude with a powerful mind.  I would not count him out.

I believe he went into the darkness 90% retired

That was part of what AR said he came to grips with in the darkness. He doesn’t need to try and prove that he’s “just” a football player. He knows he is more than that. And he knows how much he still loves being a football player and competing.

He knew that going into his darkness retreat.  That's why he said he was 90% retired and figured he'd played his last game at Lambeau.

GB moving onto Love wasn't what bothered him.  GB starting to shop him after all their talks of retirement & taking time to decide is what bothered him.

I don't like the idea of Aaron Rodgers in NY

Why? Because I want the Jets to build a program of sustained success

Not mortgage the farm for one year maybe two best case

Worst case he gets injured like every other 40 year old ever and we're paying 100 mil and draft picks just to watch Zach again

Do you think Carolina will take CJ Stroud, number 1?

This is all on woody. The rest of the guys wanted Carr. So woody will own this no matter what happens now.

What is your proposed route for “sustained success” then? Jacoby Brissett and 30 year old Hendon Hooker?

I still draft hooker if he’s available in the third, and I want Rodgers. If the kid is good he may be a bridge to the next guy. QBs also seem to last a lot longer now.

The Jets will have a huge dead spot in 25 and 26, making sustained success difficult

That's also when players like breece need new deals

If the cap goes up another 20 mil and we have a rookie in the wings it may not be as bad as it sounds.

I don't care who started the discussion, but there is no need to bring up any mention of race at all in this thread.  Please, just stop.  Nobody cares who gets the last word.  If you are responding to someone else's offensive post, you are continuing the discussion and that becomes part fo the prblem.

I really do not want to have to lock what is now the longet thread in JN history.

As it currently stands, Rodgers’ cap hit in 25 and 26 is a little more than $30 mil per. Even if they don’t re-do the contract to minimize those hits, the Jets are rolling with a rookie or second year QB after Rodgers leaves anyway, so the QB spend won’t be prohibitive.
