Correct. Thought that was obvious. But someone is clearly sensitive, for no apparent reason.

Which would be you. R-E-L-A-X. I tagged you once. Clearly a mistake.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU'RE TALKING TO?!

The Packers don’t need to do anything. By looking at love they are committed to a rebuild. The jets have to make the playoffs now or everyone gets fired

they will need to remove the draconian cap hit that will occur before the season starts if Rodgers is there.  Jason from OTC did a neat video on how catastrophic the hit will be if Rodgers remains.  They desperately need another team to absorb some.  Plus if no deal by the draft, the Green Bay fans will freak out that they didn't get a 2023 draft pick.  Getting fired may not be an issue for thise guys, but there are severe pressures there that you are overlooking.  IOW, your take is incomplete and likely biased.

What the GB office wants is irrelevant.  Their "feelings" cant get around contract legalities.  Let's see how they feel about holding out to fleece the Jets when Rodgers shows up in GB for OTA's.

At the same time, the Jets can show ZW in practice throwing the ball all over the field to Lazard, Wilson, Moore, Davis.

And we know that Rodgers is one of the few that can get by without having a camp.  He knows more offense than most OCs do and he'll be back in a system that he knows.

GB has NOTHING but a headache as leverage.

If I was JD, I would continue from this point on as if the Rodgers deal was dead and ZW was my QB

Remember, Rodgers wants to play for the Jets.  He can flat out refuse to play for any other team by retiring and leaving GB with no extra drat picks and a $40mm bill.

Hey, Joe D.  Let GB come begging for the Jets to give them a 7th round pick before week one happens.

GB has NOTHING.

Rodgers needs to be here for training camp.  New team, new teammates, new offense.  There is no way he plugs and plays while introducing himself to everybody.  That is a recipe for disaster and then we will have a 1,000 page thread on how aquiring Rodgers was a terrible move.  No matter how well he knows the offense, he needs to be there for the install of the playbook with his teammates and work on chemistry and timing with his receivers.

no, they can't

there's no woody to fire people out there

the GM and HC just got cushy extensions and can basically be mediocre for years and be just fine

JD on the other hand is one or two bad seasons away from putting his house on the market

According to boomer Aaron will wear 8 or 10

There was no way he could take 12, even if Namath did offer it up.  Rodgers knows Namath is revered by Jets fans and understanding his own similar standing in Packers history he knows he can't wear that jersey.  I would expect him to say  as much when he eventually picks a number.

Moore on the other hand should start thinking about what he can barter for when Rodgers starts to muscle in on #8.

I'm waiting for Joe D to do the Joe D thing and trade back from 13 to pick up an additional pick. Then it's "ok Green Bay, you want my 1st round pick? Here's number 27."

Essentially, "now, you get nuttin''.

under no circumstances should they give up a number one draft pick.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on how negotiations are going right now?

Think JD and Gut are on the phone every day perhaps multiple times a day trying to get a deal done?

or

It’s a stand off and it’s no communication. JD saying you know our best offer and Gut saying it’s not enough and they don’t talk for days?

I think the latter is far more likely. It could be a game of chicken until after the Jets make their selection at #13.

Everyone ready to move on but Murphy and Brian, Smfh

Why should they move?  Their QB is working out getting used to teammates and working.  The Jets QB at this point might not be able to do anything for a long time yet.  Until they face some kind of deadline (such as the draft) they wont move.

The Jets traded for Favre in August and people around here think that was a super bowl team by November.  He had never played under any of the coaches, or played with anybody on that team except Bubba Franks who was behind Keller and Baker, IIRC.  Meanwhile, Rodgers played under Hackett in 2020 and 2021 and won MVP both seasons and has Lazard, his #1 receiver from last season.

The wait only starts to be a problem if it extends to training camp/ pre-season.

Its not going to . Packers would be foolish to wait till after draft day. They will lose a lot of compensation.

Anyone think it could be possible that the Packers may be fed up enough with Rogers sh*t that they may have chosen just to bite the bullet and not trade him?

They are gonna suck no matter what this year...maybe keeping him and his salary would give them a legit tank for #1 draft pick next year...

Anywho...next year appears to be the draft for Qb's...

Then when the Jets pick in the 2nd, the "TRADE" banner will pop up on the screen and they will announce the Rodgers trade.   Pure Hollywood.

That would be good, but they’ll have the whole night and day to hammer it out. Probably announced during the day.

Unless JD has no plans of giving up his second rounder this year, either…  !

The difference is that Favre came over and adjusted to the Jets offense that had been in place for three years.  While Rodgers and Lazard know the offense, nobody else does.  Working and gaining chemistry with the receivers and the O line while they learn the offense will speed up the success timeline.  If Rodgers jumps out of a helicopter and runs onto the field just in time for the first game, we are going to be disappointed in the immediate results.

Not at the expense of a first round pick.
