Would Matt Ryan be a viable solution?

Recommended Posts

The Indianapolis Colts are sure to draft a quarterback.  Ryan will cost $35MM against the cap.  If released by March 17th, the Colts would save $17MM.  If they don't cut or trade him by March 17th, $12MM of his salary and a $10MM roster bonus is due.

If the Jets offered a 6th round pick for him, Indianapolis would jump on it.  If traded, the cap savings increase to $29MM.  They would only have a $6MM dead cap hit.  Would you take Ryan for 1 year at $29MM?  Fix the roster in 2023.  Ryan could get us to the wild card.  Who knows?  With our defense and Breece and Garrett, we could do some damage if we fix the o-line/

Matt Ryan is 4-6 in the playoffs, including 2 visits to the NFC Championship.  There is an interesting thing about his six losses.  All six losses were against teams that went to the Super Bowl.

"Here’s a rule: if you beat Matt Ryan in the playoffs, you’re going to the Super Bowl. In 10 years, Ryan has led six of the franchise’s all-time 14 playoff trips, with all six ending against the NFC’s champ and/or the NFL champ."

The friggin plane has landed and you bring up Matt Ryan. That’s a curse word. Hold on -  Let me bang my head against the wall a few times - that’s better. Think I’m gonna go take a nap and when I wake up I expect to hear some good news and it won’t be about Matt Ryan.

He hasn't had a winning season since 2017.  Why not present Y.A. Tittle's playoff record?  I don't think the relevance is much different.  To give you an idea, in 2017 Todd Gurley was OPY.

Solution for having vet competition that Wilson might actually legitimately beat out?

Funny!!!!  If only Zach could complete 65% of his passes with a 93 QBR.   Last I looked, he completed 10% fewer passes with QBR 20points lower.

Great post.  Site has too many brainless boobs.  They'd rather insult than engage in a conversation.  One actually compared his career to Zach.  Think they would check the stats if they never saw him play.

He's played 10 playoff games.  Every game he lost was against a team that went to the Super Bowl.  Not bad for a guy who never played on a top team.   Your post reinforces that he hasn't lost it.  His 5 year QBR is over 93 and he has completed over 66% of his passes on mostly non-playoff teams.

Never fun to be dismissed by the uninformed.  Thanks for checking the stats.

i don't know what worse the actual idea (after watching Ryan on the colts) or the fact that you posted it in the heat of the jets trying to land a top 5 QB all time. either way, there is only one boob here...
