Cleveland Browns rumored to have interest in trading for New York Jets WR Elijah Moore

Could New York Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore be on the move this offseason?

Mary Kay Cabot from cleveland.com suggests that the Cleveland Browns have a growing interest in the third-year wide receiver from Ole Miss.

After putting up an impressive season as a rookie (43 catches, 538 yards and 6 total TDs across 11 games), Moore regressed heavily in his sophomore season. Between the lack of involvement in the offense, his outbursts against then-offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, and Moore personally requesting a trade, it seemed imminent that the two sides would be parting ways sooner than later.

Out goes Moore, in comes Lazard?

The Jets aren’t the only people waiting on a decision from Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers’ teammate, wide receiver Allen Lazard, is also waiting to see where Rodgers intends to play in 2023. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Rodgers’ destination “will be a factor” for Lazard

I truly believe that Rogers is a done deal and coming. But if the report about him recruiting players is true, wouldn’t he have already told Lazard that he’s coming and to sign A deal with the Jets if they are truly interested?

****Players**** Lazard is a player

I think Lazard is a downgrade, talent and potential-wise, from Moore, personally.

I get wanting to make AR happy, and if he's the guy, I'm supportive of that.

But it's an iffy decision IMO.

And yes, I get that Jet Fandom has (in large part) turned on Moore as a heel now, so I'm sure many will be happy to see him gone.

Rodgers isn't a red zone QB, he likes to throw bombs and Lazard goes deep and gets open.

After the stunt he pulled last year, I believe the team would dump him in a heartbeat if they could get the right value.

Problem is he is not worth much as he was awful last year.

He makes peanuts. Great value as a number 3 if we can sign a guy like lizard. I know it’s hard to fathom having not 1 but 3 good WRs. This method has actual been used by many teams for well over a decade lol

I like Elijah Moore, but yeah, f you can flip him for picks it’ll help absorb acquiring Rodgers… who is gonna want Lazard and his other guys in the WR room, anyway.

In general, I hate the idea of trading homegrown talent for a mediocre player like Lazard. At least he knows the offense though.

What exactly would be the point of this? If the Jets are going all in with Rodgers, and Moore's value is at its lowest, and if in some way they can get a solid year out of him, it comes on the cheap.

All depends on compensation back, I would guess. Lazard may have been a concession to the Rodgers discussions in what and who he is comfortable with.

Yeah I had similar thoughts when this was brought up in a thread. If Moore’s not in the long term plans then fine, but maybe build up his value a little for a year with actual QB play before dumping him when he has one year left on his rookie deal. Would be shortsighted to move him now.

With G Wilson being our long-term number 1, I cant see Moore getting a second contract. So we have him for 2 more years. Maybe 3. If Rodgers wants his boys at WR, then trading Moore now makes sense. If we can get a 3rd, I would do it. Or a player trade at a position of need would be even better.

I really don't want to trade Moore and I hope he isn't in the package for Rodgers either.  But I think he may have dug his own grave in Florham Park from last years stunts.  Still, I hope he remains a Jet absent some kind of wacko Cleveland Browns unrefusable offer.  Like when we moved up to #6 for Sanchez by trading a 2nd round pick and a bag of broken pretzels to Mangini.

Yeah, but it's the Browns... & the Jets have JD.
