Who is returning kicks and punts now?

Zonovan Knight and Ty Johnson have returned kicks.  Only guy that I am aware of on the roster right now who has returned punts in NFL is Diontae Spencer who was PR for the Broncos for a few seasons.

Really hope we look into Isaiah Mckenzie, released last week by Buffalo.  Good PR who can give you a little something in the passing game.

These options sound fine to me, but I don't know if both will be on the roster all season long (maybe to start the season, if Hall's not ready to go right away).

Otherwise imo return duties can also be shared among not just them but also a dimeback or other low-rank WR (e.g. whichever guy ends up getting the SL2 job, since it's hard to see it as accidental that despite his speed they never used Mims even on KOs).

I'll be honest. Specials is important. But if we just had a guy who can catch the ball back there I would be totally fine with our return game.

Especially if that meant we saved a roster spot. For example, if we put Moore or Carter back there and told him to just fair catch it cuz we didn't want him to get hurt, lose yards or fumble- great.

That's how little the return game matters in the NFL these days, IMO. We got a solid kicker, solid punter, solid gunner. Yes, we will probably add a guy in FA or the draft who can handle return duties. But honestly. Who cares? Just put a guy back there who won't make mistakes.

Was just talking about this with a friend, with little eminem released from the team, who is taking over KR/PR duties?

Are they on the roster now, or in FA/draft.

lets just hope punt returns and actually catching punts do not become an adventure again like before Berrios

Punt return duties are still relevant. That’s a great spot to have an above average player who won’t cost much in terms of draft picks or cap space. The Jets can use help at WR, RB, and S; no reason not to look a little harder at guys who did some returning in the draft. Then bring in an undrafted return specialist or three, too.

Yea Berrios after such a strong 2021 was bizarre in how bad his decision making was in 22. It almost looked liked he was distracted.

Elijah Moore returned both at Ole Miss.  I am not sure how great he was, but it was a selling point in the draft.  Now that he has fallen off the gonna be a stud WR list he should be an option.  Deontae Spencer should get some opportunity

I'd place Michael Carter (RB) out there for Punts. Bam for KR.

I don't think either Carter even returned a single punt in college.  They both returned kicks.  Ty Johnson returned some punts at Maryland, but I think they let him walk.  Moore did, and Garrett Wilson returned some punts all three years at Ohio State and was significantly better than Moore, but I guess I wouldn't risk him until the playoffs. ;)
