IF we have to trade a #1 for Rodgers, which I doubt, here's how we might prioritize the draft

Recommended Posts

Going into free agency, WR might have been priority #1 for the Jets.    Now, not so much.  IF we trade our 1st round pick, then a Top OT prospect is off the table.  We signed two solid G/C backups, so spending a later round pick on OL is not necessary, but we could still get a good Center prospect at pick #43.   If a top Defensive Tackle slides to Round 2, that's an option.  There are good solid edge rushers available into the 4th round in some mock drafts I've seen, but I don't think that will be a priority for us.

Obviously it depends on who's available

  • Round 2, Pick 43 overall - OFFENSIVE LINE - IF there is a good OT still available, that's the pick, if not, there should be a few good IOLs available  (ie Center)
  • Round 3, Pick 74 overall - DEFENSIVE TACKLE -  We need a good young DT to work in the rotation, should be some good options still in the 3rd - not superstars but good ones
  • Round 4, Pick 112 overall - LINEBACKER -  We have no talent behind Mosely/Williams - If we re-sign Kwon Alexander, then never mind
  • Round 5, Pick 143 overall - RUNNING BACK - You can always find a good young running back who can contribute in Round 5 (If they love Bam Knight, then okay)
  • Round 6, Pick 207 overall - SAFETY - Not sure a 6th round S is any better than the backups we have now, but good safeties usually slide down.....or BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE HERE

Only way I do the 13th pick, is if I am getting the 45th back.

Rodgers and 3 2nd round picks sounds pretty good.

Agree. Mentioned this a few days ago.

One thing I hadn't thought of when I suggested it was the salary cap savings of not having to pay #13 pick salary.

With the Moore trade we would almost have 3 consecutive  picks in the 2nd round if we do that swap for Rodgers
