RB Ty Johnson Back

I think he fumbled once and people don't forget.

He did drop 3 passes in half a ballgame. Also he isn't exactly a border fence in pass pro, but that's something that can come with time/experience.

On the other hand he's fast & has some moves. If holes are there he doesn't tend to dance/hesitate badly behind it, waiting to see if it'll open up further while he watches it close.

Thing that's interesting is, when Hall went down last year, the trio that included TJ wasn't deemed good enough & they traded for James Robinson who looked like he was running in 4 feet of water.

I like this. He’s been fine as a third back for a while. Pass protects, special teams - so he’s useful, but he can catch a little and isn’t a plodder.

We’ve all penciled in Knight and he looked really good for a game or two, but I wondered if it was because he had late season fresh legs and he kind of trailed off. Think it’s good to have legitimate cheap competition for that third spot, especially when Hall’s health isn’t a guarantee.

Why?

Because he averaged 5.3 yards behind a line of cripples, caught the ball

well last year, was our best blocking back, clocked 4.26 and did 27 reps

at his Pro Day

He has kick and punt return experience as well.

This is what I was thinking too.  Plays on alot of special teams including cover teams.  The coaching staff must like him or they wouldn't keep bringing him back.

If you give Ty just average run blocking and 22 caries a game he will give you 100 yards on the ground. Some games will be more and some less and I don’t think he can carry that kinda load for 17 games but Ty has had a few 100 yard games for the Jets. He just needs the touches and some blocking.

Hoping carter was injured because he fell off like a cliff last year.
