Of course he is. He has 100 mil on the line if he balls out. But he’s the exact type of guy that I wouldn’t pay a dime even if he has an all pro season.

If he puts together a great season, you pick up the fifth year option and play him at that price.  Then, he puts a second year together.  You maybe offer him a lower 2 year deal and see what he does.

Either way, IF he puts in an all-pro season, it isn't a bad thing for us because we could keep him another year at a good price.  If he doesn't play well (or at all) this year, its obvious what the choice is.

The fifth year option has to be picked up by this May.

He’s the perfect kind of guy to tag if he balls out. I have no faith he’ll stay motivated after getting a long term deal

I could see a franchise tag if he has a great year. We better reach a long term deal with Q or he’s going to get the tag not Becton.

Lets get it straight here. Becton's rookie year was good not great. He had ups and downs and had games where he clearly played up to his draft status but this constantly regurgitated fantasy of "oh what a great rookie season he had" is BS. The way some people talk about him you would think he played like Jonathan Ogden.

Mehki needs to stop the selfies and start mauling opposing players.

Nope, but I’d still pick up the fifth year option and make him earn it two years in a row.

And then I’d tag him if he kills it.

The fifth year option has to be picked up this May. There is no way the Jets are picking up his option before seeing him play a game.

Alright we get in the big fella is in shape. Now stop posting it everyday, go about your business in silence. Let’s see you on the football field in training camp. Didn’t Burrow have a quote about guys who always post their workouts?

Joe Burrow isn't really the best example of humility, just saying.

Like I said, you don't pick up the fifth year option.  You let him play out this season.  IF he plays well, you offer him a short contract.  :)

I will take things that aren't going to happen for $500 please Alex.
