Nuclear Option

There's really no need for a "nuclear option", it's only in Jets fans impatience and angst that such a thing would exist.

GB can't keep Rodgers into OTAs and the season.....JD knows it, GB knows it, and ARod knows it. They need 2023 draft compensation to build around Love. All parties involved understand this.....

JD can sit and wait until they stop their nonsense and are done playing fake hardball to appease their delusional and dumb fanbase

The trade will happen between the 1st and 2nd round, after the Jets make their pick and the Packers have no other choice but to accept a 2 this year and next year.

Jets can wait this out until training camp if they really have to.

The Packers are going to have a logistical, PR, and salary cap nightmare if Rodgers is working out in the Packers' building taking reps away from their golden boy Jordan Love.

They'll also have to pay a 60M cash bonus on Sep. 1 if they really want to continue being stupid.

If Rodgers gets injured and can't play, they are on the hook for everything.

Thank you! Someone with sense and logic and not impatient toddler nonsense.....

GB has no choice left in the matter...GB gave one team permission to talk to Rodgers, and it happens to be the team he publicly came out and said he intends to play for this season.....in addition to saying he doesn't want to be in GB any longer, a team that made its intentions known that they were ready to move on 1st......

A deal is getting done....Jets fans can go cry a river because it's not done right this minute so they can go waste $$$ on a Rodgers jersey tomorrow instead of in a month or two

GB is playing fake hardball to appease the buffoons in their fanbase.......they'll get a deal done either in the upcoming league meetings, or closer to the draft

Exactly. If JD rolls in now and tries to impose some artificial deadline, it will be from a position of weakness.

People are constantly  replying to Rodgers being the Jets only choice with something something the packers.

Forget the Packers, what is our option other than Zac Wilson?

The one and only  one is giving Lamar Jackson an as good as watson contract and two first rounders.  Anything less than an absurd contract and the Ravens match.

On top of this I am willing to bet that the Jets promised Rodgers they would trade for him, no way he goes on Macafee and says what he said if he was not positive the jets were getting him.

The Jets had a LOT of options and plan Bs at the start of this process, they  have virtually none right now.

The Jets will get Rodgers sooner or later, probably  before the draft but this talk of screwing the packers as somehow being good for the jets is laughable.

Are you implying that I am saying Rodgers is the only option?  He is the only known future Hall of Fame QB available, but I am literally saying he is not the only option at the posiiton.

The Green Bay Packers have literally two choices (currently).  Keep Rodgers on for Huge Cap Crippling numbers, or Trade him to literally one team he says he will play for.

That said, another team possibly could emerge if their draft doesn't go as plan, but professionals don't sit and hope something will come up as a negotiation strategy.

Will something happen with the Jets and Packers?  Probably, but JD loses if he gives up too much in compensation for the trade.  I don't think that happens.

What are the other options to the Jets?  Draft is one.  Trade for a mid level guy is another.  An extreme is Lamar Jackson, who will not get what he is looking for, but is still an option.

The point is, the Jets do have options.  The Packers do not.

This...that contract is an albatross that GB wants no part of. Jets have very little if any options, but Douglas isn't going to be stupid with compensation unless Woody gets involved.

The time for deadlines and tough talk is long past.

The Jets have no other options than Rodgers now none.

There is no world in which zac Wilson or some one like teddy brdgewater starts.

The jets needed to set a deadline in the sand for both rodgers and the packers a long time ago when there was still at least semi viable fallback.

Don't worry a deal will get done, it would be an utter disaster for both teams if it does not.

There’s like a month left in the draft and you’re saying Aaron is our only option? As if 13 plus an second isn’t enough to land in the top 6-7 to select a QB if one fell out of the top 5.

JD needs to start making calls to pre arrange a deal. Those things don’t normally get thrown together during the draft.

Do you think that part of tom brady is saying….. maybe I’ve got one more season to give if it means I could deliver a SB to a cursed franchise and it would be nice to play a final season with the domestic drama in the rear view mirror?

I would love this option ... this board would burn up.

There are no QBs in the top of the 1st round I would want.   I would like a more exploratory option in round 4.

I agree with all, but Zach couldn't even hit 5 yard passes, abysmal performance at best.

Here's the thing with that. One of the biggest negatives about Zach coming out was exactly the pass you are referring to. He had difficulty with the exact throw you are referencing him. So what does LaFleur do? Calls it all the time. Zach was elite with RPO motion. What does LaFleur do? Almost never uses it. Zach is great out of the pocket. What does LaFleur do? Almost never calls roll outs. I firmly believe that LaFleur was not really interested in developing Zach at all. He thought of the Jets as a short tenure to a head coaching job, and his sole purpose was to prove his "system". And LaFleur did nothing to force LaFleur to adapt to Zach's game. Zach wanted to have him on the field to discuss plays. LaFleur refuses. Interestingly, late in games when LaFleur had to abandon his crappy offense, Zach actually played pretty well. He was 8th in the NFL in 4th quarter QBR.

No need to set a deadline or make a clearly fake ultimatum.  There are enough important dates on the schedule to ultimately force the the trade. No need to speak of or worry about Zach Willson.  Let AR have his free time and then come in full power and focused in training camp.
