Update the title to visiting Thursday March 30th?

JosinaAnderson @JosinaAnderson

Free agent DL Calais Campbell tells me he’s scheduled to meet with the #Jets on Thursday after teams return from League meetings.

unless he comes cheap no thanks, dude is like a million and is his play has dropped off, this is the season he completely drops off. I take him cheap for depth, but def want to go elsewhere for this. not sure if there is elsewhere to turn to so on the cheap please. Maybe he has a sdrviceable year left but that is very much in doubt. And i think it is not likely.

What’s our alternative at this point?

I’m a fan of Joe overall but don’t get his plan for DT this off-season.  He let Rankins walk, missed on Cox (who understandably returned to Philly) and didn’t seem to aggressively pursue anyone else even though we could have easily freed up money by cutting Lawson or Davis.

Now we have a need to fill and this guy might be the best option.  Unless your plan is to draft one early when we still have big needs at OT & Center - other positions we haven’t filled that look like round 1 & 2 selections.

I’m not a fan of relying on a 4th round rookie starter to stop the run.

Remember, Douglas is trying to play the compensatory pick game. Let some of our free agents walk while trying to limit the number of free agent signings. Players like Campbell were released by their team And do not count against the comp pick formula.

Im with you for sure. I think i prefer to take a stab at this guy for reasonable contract. Or draft. I know we need line and other spots. But I think there is other startable assets our there, maybe not big ticker FA but there will be other guys cut at camp or where ever along the road to the new season. I just hope we dont get fixated right now on this guys an doffer big bucks cause he is in name only kind of player. Been great, but is not so great now. I dont expect Joe to be setting the market or wahtever but we cna get guys later on if he is asking too much.

That’s a good thought, didn’t think about that.

DT market getting thinnnnnnnn

That sucks.  They closed the deal before he was due to visit the Jets tomorrow.  He would have been an excellent addition next to Quinnen.

I have a feeling the organization is pretty high on Tanzel Smart, as was most of the board last year.  He could move up and, at the very least, take the reps of Nathan Shepperd.  You pick Campbell up for a year and throw another draft pick into the mix, that isn't so bad.

Woof. Center is still the biggest need b/c we literally don't have one but between Ben Jones and our second round pick it seems logical we should be able to fill that position.

DT is rough. Solomon Thomas to me was atrocious last year. I loved Rankins and always thought Shep got a bad wrap here. Shep got a bag so no issues there but I'd feel so much better if we still had Rankins... probably should have looked to extend him last year but oh well.

Wonder if JD will look to trade down from 13. Try and pick up a later second or third rounder to be used on DT/C and hope to still get one of the top few tackles? If QW misses time this DL goes from being a strength last year to a relative weakness b/c our DTs will scare absolutely no one w/o QW... particularly scary given how often he is off the field...

The Jets have a 1 and 2 2s.  I think 2 of them should be OL/DL.  Maybe the third is LB/S.

Theoretically, all three would be OL/DL.

In your scenario who’s the QB.. Zach Wilson? ?

if we trade a 2nd hopefully we trade down and pick up another top 3 round pick
