Part of the Jets speaking up Corey Davis the way Saleh has is gamesmanship. Packers are convinced he's just a throw-in so the Jets are trying to establish that he's a member of their team that they won't release if he's not included in the trade.

It so, it’s a waste and just makes him sound like a used car salesman.

Nobody is buying that.

People have eyes and brains.

Everybody knows CD isn’t a difference maker.  He obviously ain’t starting over Lazard.

It makes no sense to carry Corey Davis at current cost when they can save 9M by cutting him with a negligible deal cap charge.

No.  You THINK CD isn't a difference maker.  You could be right.  You could be wrong.  But there's been a trend in the past few years of people wrapping their opinions with "everybody is saying...".  It's called gaslighting and it's not going to convince anyone of anything.

I mean what’s your definition of a difference maker

Somebody that’s always banged up, and is a virtual lock to drop and/or fumble in critical situations?

He’s had basically 1 positive game changing play in 2 years, the broken play bomb vs TEN.

The only thing that matters is what the Jets really think.

If they thought he was as good as you apparently think he is, they wouldn’t have signed Lazard.

Lazard is obviously CD’s replacement in the starting lineup.

If CD were a difference maker, they’d be working on an extension right now instead of back door shopping him in the trade market.

your takes are terrible. 9m puts CD between russell gage and tim patrick...not to mention its a 1 year deal they could easily manipulate.

why is he "obviously" not starting over Lazard? guy had like 700 receiving yards with Aaron Rodgers last year. Not saying he cant play but to pretend like he is night and day better than CD is asinine.

I hope Corey Davis gets dealt within the hour just to show how much of a liar Saleh.

How could you possibly carry Corey Davis as your WR5 or WR6 at 9+ M when you’ve got GW, Lazard, Hardman, and you’re about to add Cobb and/or Beckham?

Cobb is a non factor he will make a few mil a year and be WR 6....if they do sign another WR at 7-10 mil that's when they will cut Davis...doesn't seem that complicated Saleh isn't going to bury a player under contract to make you feel better.

What makes you think Davis would be slotted behind Lazard, Hardman or Cobb?

When healthy, he's a better WR than all three.  He just hasn't been healthy here (a constant refrain for Jets players).

What do you want him to say? Corey sucks and there is no point keeping him? Even if GB doesn't want him why not at least act like the Jets are planning on keeping him to help trade leverage if another team calls? Even if no team wants him why would you just actively trash a guy who hasn't done anything wrong?

As far as his comments about Zach- much of this has been known for a while. Zach has actually been going back-and-forth between NJ and Utah. He's been in touch with Aaron and they are planning on working out together for about a month in LA prior to training camp. Zach is going to try and coordinate another "Jets West" with Aaron and the receivers.

I would love for this to happen. After having “shade” thrown his way with all the Mike White love last season, having Rodgers legitimize Zach as his heir apparent will provide Zach with needed confidence and a “voice” within the locker room.

Phase II of the Zach Wilson development plan gets off on a solid footing.

Corey Davis could be the best WR5 this team has ever had. lol

I can rattle off 3 or 4 seasons in the past decade that he would have been WR1 on the roster.  Let's be careful about ditching a guy who costs $9M when anyone else we sign would likely be in that same neighborhood, slightly cheaper, or cost even more.

Yep, you can't tell me all those third down drops don't make a difference.

I thought it was big news that he said Carl Lawson is def coming back.

Not really the only people who thought Lawson was gonna be cut were basement salary cap experts....never thought a pass rusher of his caliber who was coming off major surgery and had a very good end of the year was just gonna get kicked to the curb.

He's not starting over Lazard, but in the slim scenario he were to come back they wouldn't have the same role anyway. Lazard is going to play the big slot, Garrett is going to be the X, and Davis would be the Z with Mims as his direct backup. Mecole is going to be the 4th rotational receiver/offensive weapon and Cobb would be a backup/situational slot.

  • X: Garrett Wilson, Mecole Hardman
  • Y: Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb
  • Z: Corey Davis, Denzel Mims

the salary cap expands every year

you have to put everything in context

at the time they signed him, what they gave him was high-end WR2 money

Joe Douglas misjudged the market.  They were interested in Amari Cooper.

Had he known the WR market would explode like it has, he would have traded for Amari Cooper and gladly agreed to pay the 20M per.

Last season they went hard after Tyreek HIll and got rebuffed.

Lazard is a JAG just like CD

The thing ishey're not paying Lazard what they're paying him to ride the bench or be in a timeshare on the outside with CD.  Lazard will play 80 to 90% of the snaps.

It's not a "take".  It's a fairly obvious statement supported by facts.  The only ones who think Corey Davis is good are Stockholm-syndromed fans.

Robert Saleh

NY Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke to reporters at the owner’s meetings, and, you guessed it, Aaron Rodgers was the topic of conversation. As much as Saleh tried to say I will defer to Joe Douglas, the questions kept coming. He said he couldn’t discuss it but did add we have come a long way in two years. A lot of excitement around the organization and players wanting to be here shows that.

What is the cut-off point? More of a Joe Douglas question, a coach always wants things yesterday. Zach is the # 2 quarterback, he has a future in this league. He has the work ethic and the mindset.

Did you speak with Zach after the Pat McAfee interview? He has been great, and he is working his butt off back home. He hasn’t come close to sniffing his ceiling. Allen Lazard, Odell Beckham Jr, Mecole Hardman, Corey Davis and Elijah Moore were other big topics in this interview.

Calais Campbell was another name that came up, but Saleh deferred to Douglas once again. How about Zeke Elliot from the Cowboys? Didn’t sound like the Jets were interested as the answer was, we love our running back room and I will leave it at that.

Offensive Line? Duane Brown is rehabbing and looking good, I have to start drinking the water he is drinking. Mekhi, I know he is posting pictures, he is working hard. Saleh also mentioned that Max Mitchell is expected back next season.
