DL Rotation: Impact of Lawson coming back

Recommended Posts

We learned from Saleh this week that Carl Lawson was not going anywhere.

If so, how do we increase the reps for Jermaine Johnson, Micheal Clemons and Bryce Huff?  All three graded well last year in different areas and seemingly have earned larger roles.

The Jets have been fairly conservative at DT, letting Rankins walk and losing out on 2 aging pass rushers in Cox & Campbell.  Neither run stuffers at this point in their careers.

So what’s the Jets plan?  My own 2 cents below..

——————————————————————-

1. The Jets are planning to shift JFM inside full time, where he is a very good pass rusher and has improved as a run stopper (to about average)

2. Calais Campbell cited his planned usage as one reason he joined the Falcons.  I don’t believe the Jets offered him a starting role…might explain why he didn’t even visit.  I found it curious that Saleh didn’t know he was scheduled to come in Thursday when interviewed earlier this week

3. Guessing the DT plan is to round out the depth with one more pass rusher via Free Agency (Seattle, Carolina guys) and a run stuffer in the draft

4. Without a starting DT needed, it’s OT round 1, Center round 2, and LB round 4
