Could be a low $ move for added Safety help.  Not sure if there's a Saleh relationship but Neal came into the league undrafted in 2018.  Playing in that NFC West vs San Francisco I'm sure there's some level of familiarity.  Seems like the kind of guy the Jets might have interest in.

The Seattle Seahawks have withdrawn the restricted free agent tender on safety Ryan Neal, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

The unexpected move makes Neal an unrestricted free agent and clears $2.627 million in much-needed salary cap space for Seattle.

The Seahawks assigned Neal the low RFA tender earlier this month, which meant a one-year offer for $2.627 million and secured their right to match any offer sheet that he might sign with another team. But their depth chart and salary cap picture have since changed.

The Seahawks signed former New York Giants starter Julian Love to a two-year, $12 million deal, bolstering their safety depth behind Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs with a player they didn't expect to be available at that price.

The Love signing was one example of how Seattle has been more aggressive in free agency this year than normal. The team's other significant moves include a three-year, $51.53 million splurge on defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones and, most recently, a reunion with linebacker Bobby Wagner on a one-year, $5.5 million deal.

General manager John Schneider has said they want to continue adding to their defensive line, but the money they've spent has left them tight against the salary cap.

Neal, 27, has been an unsung hero for the Seahawks in each of the past three season and was one of their defensive MVPs last year while again filling in for an injured Adams. Neal had career highs with 66 tackles, four tackles for loss and eight passes defensed. He also had an interception, a sack and a forced fumble in 14 games, missing three because of a knee injury.

Neal entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Illinois in 2018. He's also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.

I think Joe D. was with the Eagles and Ulbrich was with the Falcons?

Philadelphia Eagles

Neal signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2018. He was waived by the team during training camp on August 6, 2018.

Atlanta Falcons

Neal was signed by the Atlanta Falcons on August 11, 2018. However, he failed to make the 53-man roster out of training camp and was subsequently re-signed by the Falcons to the team's practice squad on September 2, 2018. Neal was promoted to the Falcons active roster on November 28, 2018. Neal made his NFL debut on December 9, 2018, in a 34-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers, playing on special teams in the only regular season appearance of his rookie season. Neal was waived by the Falcons as part of the team's final roster cuts on August 31, 2019.

Seattle Seahawks

Neal was signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad on September 2, 2019. The Seahawks promoted Neal to the active roster on December 11, 2019.

Neal re-signed with the Seahawks on April 20, 2020. He was waived on September 5, 2020, and signed to the practice squad the next day. He was elevated to the active roster on September 26 for the team's week 3 game against the Dallas Cowboys. With six seconds remaining in the game, he intercepted Dak Prescott in the end zone, sealing a 38–31 victory for the Seahawks. After automatically reverting to the practice squad following the game, Neal was promoted to the active roster on September 30, 2020. On October 4, 2020, with Adams and Lano Hill still injured, he made his first start for the Seahawks in a game against the Miami Dolphins. Neal made 6 tackles, and also collected his second interception, from Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Neal signed a one-year exclusive-rights free agent tender with the Seahawks on June 8, 2021.

Not crazy about the missed tackles.  We already have a safety who misses too many tackles.

Neal is more of a coverage SS than a strong-tackling one.

Clark can fill the tackling SS role just fine.  We need a center fielder.  I'm not saying Neal is the answer there necessarilly (as we he's still more of a SS, not a FS) but he's certainly an option.
