Never forget all the betas on here who were beside themselves we allowed the pats to draft this bitch

I preferred Jones (with a late 1st/early 2nd) to Wilson (at #2 overall).

Would have liked to see Jones playing for us last year instead of Zach tbqh.

Seems like a fake news type story. I don't see the Patriots moving on from Mac Jones after they just brought in Bill O'Brien to be the OC.

I think I agree, but Mac Jones is an interesting case. Some people still really like him, others think he kinda s*cks. His year 1 was very good and his year 2 was pretty mediocre. I definitely think the second year is usually more telling than the rookie year, but I also think he was in a terrible offense last year. Very curious to see him in year 3.

Meh. At this point, I'd rather have the guy that you're 100% sure you need to move on from than the one that still leaves a little hope to grow to some viewers. Jets with Jones probably make the playoffs  last season and we're saddled with his mediocrity for another 2-3 years.

Better to fail so spectacularly a change in direction is accelerated, or better to mire in mediocrity with false hope for twice as long?

Then again, sometimes we get a GM slapped in the face with the former, and still passes on two star QBs to draft a safety so he can give ****ing Hackenberg another shot at trying to make 3rd string.

J!

I agree completely.  A bust at QB is a bust.  It doesn't matter if it takes 2, 3 or 4 years to determine that the QB drafted early is not starting material.  I think it's better to find out right away and waste two years rather than 3 or 4 figuring it out.  Lance appears to be a bust along with Wilson now and the Pats appear to be coming to the realization that Jones has a high floor, but his ceiling is very very low.  How long before the Bears determine Fields is not an NFL passer?  Drafting a QB is such a crap shoot.

I agree with this...it's also why you don't give bums like Derek Carr and Kirk Cousins long term deals.

NFW.  He is a borderline NFL starter at best.  He is most likely a capable back up.  Very low ceiling.

I think if there was a team out there looking to contend but without a viable backup, he might be of interest.   Not up to speed on the current backups, but teams like KC and SD don't seem to have much.  The problem is that Jones' game is so completely different from those two starters that he probably isn't going to be a good option.
