This will never happen, but who I want is...

As much as I like him it just doesn't make sense.  The goal now is to build the strongest team possible around Rodgers in an attempt to win these next two years.  They're not going to use their last 1st rounder til 2025 on a guy who won't see the field for two years.  It makes even less sense when you factor in that the FO sees Rodgers as a way to potentially fix the Zach pick.

If only he was the best mental specimen at QB ever!

I think we all need to remember that most QBs taken in the NFL Draft have the physical ability to play well in the NFL, but few have the decisions-making,  maturity, intelligence, processing speed, and confidence needed to live up to their physical potential. The position is mostly mental.

You just spent 114 million on a QB and are a win now team so you are going to draft a guy that is guaranteed to ride the bench for our playoff/potential Super Bowl run? Why, so if Richardson is good in 5 years we can be decent? Also, you would piss off Rodgers just like the Packers did - great way to start a working relationship. Do you not see all the things that would be wrong to potentially sabotage the good will?

Yes, I agree with all this... I'm hoping for the best with Zach, but what are the odds he becomes even an average NFL starter?   Hopefully AR is correct, and he can totally help Zach regain his confidence...it would be awesome if he becomes a good NFL starter.  I just think that all these teams who pass on Anthony Richardson tonight will live to regret it.  Inexperienced?  Sure, but I love his attitude, his confidence, his work ethic...perfect situation is for him to sit behind a vet for a year or 2 (Just like some dude named Patrick Mahomes did his rookie year).  You can't teach the physical skills this kid has, and it seems like someone is going to get a steal tonight.  Just wish it was the Jets, but I understand all the reasons why it won't be...it's too bad because after 2 years of AR, if Zach isn't at least a competent NFL starter, where does that leave us?

You are 100% correct...still we may look back in 2-3 years and really regret not selecting him if he's on the board at 15.  I think he's got a chance to be THAT good...like best QB in the NFL over a decade type good.  I could be wrong, but man I like him a lot.

Look at this thing from another angle...who'd we rather have right now, Darnold, Zach, or Lamar Jackson?   Don't you think teams made a huge mistake passing on Lamar Jackson?  And I think Anthony Richardson might just be better, or at least has that sort of potential.  As with all draft picks, it's a crap shoot.  But after being a Jets fan my entire life, I just yearn for the time when we draft a stud QB

We're probably back to looking toward the draft.  Not sure when Cooper's kid is supposed to get drafted but it'll probably be right around that time.  Either way there are always top QB prospects every draft.  Some of them hit, some don't.  We'll just have to get lucky for once and pick the right guy.

...either that or we replace Rodgers with another veteran.  A Carr or Cousins type, whoever happens to hit the market at that time.  Either way, that's a 2 or 3 year down the road problem.  Not something I'm really concerned about tonight when we're on the clock at 15.  Hell, we could draft a kid in the 2nd next year if Zach still looks lost this year(even if he's not playing in games, the team and coaching staff will be able to tell if he's making progress).  People have been hyping up that kid from Notre Dame Hartman as one of the better QB prospects next year outside of the elite guys.   There will be a lot of routes we can take.  Hell, we could take a kid tonight in the 4th or 5th for all I know, with the intention of grooming them for a couple of years.

Our first two picks though should absolutely be reserved for guys who will contribute to this team potentially winning a SB these next two years.  OL, DT, WR, LB, TE, DE, etc.

I agree, we may regret it. But it simply doesn't fit the 'all in for the next two years' plan. We can't go half way - plus we aren't the ones that just spent $115 million dollars. One of the perks of getting Rodgers is for him to mentor Zach - he's the talented young guy on the roster. I think he'll be the starter after Rodgers is gone.

Right.

Theres a reason Tom Brady went in the 6th round.

Theres also a reason he was successful well into his 40s.

The reason Rodgers was available, in my opinion, was he didn’t feel like the packers were committed to him after drafting his replacement instead of weapons.

with that said, I agree that Richardson will be the best QB from this class in 3 years

Bingo, I agree with all this.   I guess the way I'm feeling is:  1) I'm excited to have what should be a good team...probably best we've had in at least 10 years, maybe more.   2) I'm also feeling anxiety at the fact that no matter how good this team is the next 2 years, if Zach doesn't come around, we have no long term QB and are back to square 1.  3) I really truly think this kid has a chance to be special, so it pains me that the Jets may pass on him.  We may look back in 2 years and long for the opportunity to draft him...but I get why we won't.  The torture of being a Jets fan never truly goes away LOL
