Face it, this overall draft class is weak: proof is in the picks

Great post. It definitely did kind of feel that way from the get go. A lot of reports says that many scouts and gms didn’t even have 15 first round grades on guys in this class. The next couple round are supposedly where this class shines

Tonight is really the meat of the draft, with comparable 2nd/3rd round talent, similar to prior years.  It falls off quickly on day 3.

Obviously we'll be watching the centers tonight (Tippman, JMS, Avila, Wypler--if they don't grab one, you might see Stromberg in Round 4).

Couple of interesting Tackle prospects in Mauch and Bergeron.

Hard to imagine we don't come out of day 2 with an offensive lineman, probably a center.

DT is a much bigger hole than center. We have Q and??? FS is a gaping hole. Tackle is needed. LB is needed. Another wr is needed. Center? Not needed.

that can be a 4th rounder

JFM should be moved to the inside, he is much better there than at the outside... & w/the addition of McDonald that's where he should play.

Last year was pretty agreed upon to be a weak class too, remember

At least for early picks

I think for the QBs yes, but overall talent at WR and OT was much better than this year.  And CB was also stronger.  DE was solid, if not spectacular.  Against other drafts, I would say 2022 was solid even if it wasn't historic.  This year it's far weaker across multiple positions.  Arguably C and TE are the only two positions in which the draft is deep this year.  That's saying something.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus.

And it seems like, past the top 10-12 players, there is a lot of disagreement.

This will be a fun draft to look back on 5 years from now.

I was also struck by how little variance there is across prospects. Fairly flat draft for a long stretch. And not dazzling by any means.

The only season with the jets where he saw a decent amount of snaps on the inside was 2020…his worst graded season so far. Every other year he’s played on the outside for the vast majority of the time.
