Popular Post #27TheDominator
I thought Sherwood was supposed to replace Mosley? Alexander played a little less than 50% of the snaps last year and Quincy Williams played about 70%. Harris, Nasrildeen and Sherwood combined for like 8% of the snaps. That means only 2 LB on the field for over 70% of the snaps. I think their base is nickel with MC2. I also think they will play a bunch more of Clark and Whitehead up, so they probably are not looking for a 3rd "starting" LB.
Popular Post David Harris
I like what I've seen from Sherwood, smart with tremendous length and tackling. It'd be nice to get more contributions from the late round draft picks. MC2 was a great find in the back half. Also credit to JD for seeing the potential in castoffs like JFM and Quincy Williams who have become key above average starters for us.
ElBarrioJets
If Sherwood put in the time in the weight room, there's no reason why he can't be the top LB backup. Nasrildeen just feels like a longshot. We also got Quincy as a training camp cut, so you have to think they'll be scouring the wire for another LB backup when camp closes.

56mehl56
Just a hunch, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Jermaine Johnson and/or Will McDonald get some extended reps at LB this season. I think these two players can be versatile enough to play either End or LB.

OtherwiseHappyinLife
It’s a good topic. The Jets don’t have the capital to fill every starting position thru free agency or the draft and must make some bets on youngsters who are already im the system. The 2 bets they are making this year are on Tony Adams at FS and a possible combo of Sherwood/Clark to replace Kwon at LB. I see the versatile Sherwood backing up Mosley/Quincy and possibly starting in place of Kwon. (Clark also will at least partially fill this role as his strengths covering the TE and as an in the box run defender mimic Alexander’s.) Although not an elite athlete, Sherwood has the instincts / short area quickness / toughness to be a good run defender and carries over his safety experience to defend the pass. The Jets have made little effort re-signing KA.. they must like what they see in Sherwood and/or are viewing Clark in this role. I would be much more concerned if they are betting on Nas, given he hasn’t shown anything in 2 years.

I'm sorta expecting Nas to get cut and replaced by Zaire Barnes who probably can fill his ST role and maybe contribute more as a LB.

Beerfish
Either our newly drafted guy or one of the 3 or 4 udfa guys will step up into that spot.
Bobby816
I think we see Clark lined up as a LB quite a bit

He looked excellent in preseason last year and graded well against the Bills when Mosley got hurt (except on the big run from Allen). I don’t know why he didn’t get a chance to replace Mosley on 3rd down passing sets .. it’s as if Mosley’s reputation guarantees him full time usage and a $17M salary.
RoadFan
Ugh… no. Kwon, Quincy and CJM bring a violent attitude to the defense. I would prefer to keep that intact…

Larz
The best depth chart I could find from last year had, at the WILL; Kwon, Nas, Surratt I think they will give Nas and Chazz a chance to compete for the job and sign a street free agent if they stumble
