Are your saying that most NFL fans attending the SB listen to this genre? I doubt it.

You should find the data to counter the NFL’s decision here. I mean, they do have a bunch of experts who know what they’re doing here consulting data to see what would sell the best.
You maybe don’t listen to this, and your friends who watch it probably don’t either. Doesn’t mean your views represent football as a whole.

They aren't catering to NFL fans.  They're catering to non-NFL fans they hope to turn into NFL fans.  They already know NFL fans will watch/attend this game.

It's a global event.  They want to increase their market.  Not cater to those who spend their dollars on the NFL already.

Bingo. Music is trash nowadays but the superbowl is NOT for football fans. It’s for the masses and catering to their despicable sh*t tastes in things.

Only thing I'm confused about is why not just ask Taylor Swift and get it over with already?

Makes no sense why she hasn't.  Does she and her team think she's above the SB or something?  I can't imagine the NFL hasn't asked already.

Just googled it and apparently she indeed turned it down this past SB:

According to sources who spoke with TMZ, Swift was offered the spot but declined in order to focus on re-recording her first six albums.

That's a bingo. But I still hate Super Bowl halftime shows.  Give me a guy throwing a frisbee to a dog over a 20 minute lip synced concert by an artist I couldn't care less to see.  The Super Bowl has become insufferable.  I remember when I was a kid, it was the Orange Bowl halftime show that was overly long and had nothing to do with football - and I hated that decades before I was old and cranky and impatient.  I have and always will prefer my football straight up without the bs frills.

Why would she do a free SB halftime show?  It's not going to make her more popular (although I couldn't name a single Swift song).  What does she have to gain?

I think there are studies done that after the performance, people flock to itunes etc and purchase songs from that artist.

I mean honestly who else are they supposed to get? You’d rather the old men like Bono, Mick, Bruce or John Bon Jovi? Or todays “hot stars” like Ice Spice and Taylor Swift? I don’t think there’s any performers out there who would appease most people.  The best halftime show we’ve seen recently was the Dr Dre one in LA with Snoop and Eminem

Exactly. The NFL treats the gig like they’re hiring a mediocre bar band - why do you need to be paid with this kind of exposure?

No idea but its hard to imagine she'll go forever without doing it.  Killing it at the SB halftime show is about being recognized/coronated as an icon, not just the money/fans gained.  It'd be like a Victoria's Secret model never showing up for the big Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

People remember great SB performances/moments.  Like Whitney's national anthem, MJ in '93, Prince in '07, or Janet Jackson's boob.

Ice Spice?  Are the Spice Girls back?

SB isn’t about the 80k fans present in the game. It’s about the 120 million people watching it. Fans in the stadium don’t care what ads are playing or who’s streaming the game. They also don’t really care who’s performing. That’s not what they paid $8k for. Guess who does care though? The fans at home. That’s who NFL targets, rightfully so.
