Trash Revis, maybe the best Jet ever, certainly top 3 and elevate Snell, who’s been trashing or ignoring the Jets for years.  Wants nothing to do with the Jets.

Huh?  Jets already put Revis in the Ring of Honor, and its the NFL inducting him in the HOF this year...

So what should Woody be doing?  Matt Snell is already in the Jets Ring of Honor I believe?

Snell was inducted into the Ring of Honor with his backfield mate Emerson Boozer. Despite numerous attempts to bring Snell back into the fold, Snell remains a bitter man - refusing to attend the ceremony

You can blame Woody for a lot. I know I do. But Snell is ridiculous for his decades long grudge against the franchise. Woody has nothing to do with the original cause of the split.

The Revis and Snell situations are as related as a pineapple and a crawfish.

I'm not blaming Woody, Snell's problems were with Leon Hess which essentially

financial.

We still have one Lombardi and MS was responsible for it.

Do something for the old guy, who won our only  SB

his story-  https://nypost.com/2018/09/19/matt-snell-finally-reveals-why-he-hasnt-forgiven-the-jets/

I hate selfish pricks like Mevis whose only goal in football was to be the highest paid player. Not only is it inconsiderate of his teammates, but no one is running to sign

that piece of crap post career

Fwiw, the beef is over a job. This was the era where many players had jobs in the offseason according to Snell, the Jets promised him a job and didn’t come through. That sucks but I’m not blowing off the ceremony putting my number in the ring of honor over it.

People mad Revis played for the money are funny. Not saying he isnt a dick but it's a business.

Brick and mangold redid their deals the same year. They handled it privately and are still fan favorites. Revis leveraged his position very publicly and is disliked by at least half the fans.  At the end of the day he put millions more in his pocket at the expense of popularity. Brick and mangold probably left a 500k to a million on the table. I’m sure all 3 feel they did the right thing

It's not about getting paid, it's about being a selfish prick.

When you want every cent of the cap, you make sure your

team will be weak.  Mahomes, Allen leave money behind,

so their GMs can build a strong team around them. His

sham of a plan is also foolhardy, when was the last time

you saw MeMe in a commercial or in any post career

money making endeavor

Cornerbacks aren’t really endorsement candidates. It’s QB for the most part. Not sure if the information is correct but I found one pic.

It was Sonny Werblin.

No.  Read the Post article.  Snell was friends with Werblin.  Werblin supposedly told him he'd be a Jet for life.  When Werblin was gone, Snell went to the team and asked for a reference and they told him "they don't do that for players."   It does seem a bit petty to hold a grudge that long, but when something/someone gets you that mad some people are better off writing them off so they can move on.  We look at it as him not letting go of his anger, but he may look at it as he already moved on from the Jets.

The owner couldn’t get someone to write a letter?

I doubt he ever spoke with Hess.  That might be the point.  There were a lot of petty people in football.  It was a nickel dime game that turned to millions and some people were very angry and jealous about the change.  Snell's take was that people were mad and jealous of his friendship with Sonny and that they spoke badly about him after Werblin was gone.  Werblin and Al Davis were AFL guys that wanted to continue to win the war rather than merge and the others bought him out in 1968.  It does make some sense that they would not honor Werblin's wishes or treat guys associated with him well.

Thing is, Werblin didn't die until the 90's and he was running MSG well into the 80's.  Why the **** wouldn't Snell just go to him for  a reference in 1974?  I assume a reference from the owner of the Meadowlands would be enough for a construction company.

Cap is the GM’s job. If a player demands an amount that the GM assesses to be disproportionate to their contributions they can always say “no.”

You think the players are the reason there is a salary cap?

No, wasn’t a contract issie.

He claims the Jets promised him some kind of position after his retirement and reneged.   So he hates the Jets and refuses to have anything to do with them, including 1969 reunions

That was also an era when letters of recommendation were taken very seriously. Maybe Snell had an issue and the jets just didn’t feel comfortable vouching for him?   That’s definitely something that could cause bad blood.
