Biggs
I don't believe the NFL has the power to change State or federal law. They can stop testing for it and probably should. 1

It's not a matter of changing law at all, the NFL is the entity that decides the sanction for the violation and they can absolutely change it on their own. The UFC did it several years back and changed a positive test to no longer be a violation unless it could be proven that the fighter was using it for performance enhancing purposes. The NFL actually did this themselves in the last CBA with a lax policy during the summer and they could easily decide to just make it for the entire year.

Popular Post playtowinthegame
It's no longer necessary to test players for marijuana use, when the league and NFLPA have already agreed to no longer suspend NFL players who test positive for marijuana.

PFSIKH
On a national level should it be legal? Sure. I do not have a dog in the fight. Should the NFL stop? Meh. Tom Segura said on his podcast that he talked to an NFL player. The player said you have to be "f'ing *****" to fail a marijuana drug test. They give you a few month warning on when they will be testing. It was down to the day.

Embrace the Suck
They shouldn't test for cannabis. It isn't a performance enhancer like steroids. Players can use it for pain and not become pill or injection junkies. Also, these guys aren't driving school busses, or operating on people.

Weed isnt a pain killer. If you have pain in your arm and you smoke weed, you are now just baked and your arm still hurts.

Bocajetfan
I’m an old fart and believe they should test. Until they can show there is no risk to playing high continue testing, goes for alcohol also. Have a concern for players safety bottom line. Easy to laugh about how player X played high until injuries manifest themselves. Just my opinion

If you have pain in your arm and you smoke weed, you are now just baked and your arm still hurts. That's not exactly true. While you not be able to smoke up and not feel an arm being cut off, it's definitely used to manage certain types of pain. It's certainly better than opiates.

I have a friend in TX who would prefer weed as opposed to her current legally prescribed pain killers. Maybe you need to buy better stuff.
