Rhg1084
Bottom 4 team in the league in that category. Pats had 30 as a comparison. Turnover differential was -7. Not sure if there’s an exact science to creating turnovers but I feel like that’s one category we need to improve on this year.
Popular Post FidelioJet
Teams played pretty conservatively agains the Jets last year. I suspect if we start to put up better offensive numbers the turnovers will go up too. 10
Beerfish
This is why all this talk of an 'elite' defense is laughable. We have a good defense, far from elite just yet. Our last 6 games where we fell into the abyss? We generated one turnover. Brock Purdy looking like a hero for the 49ers? They had 20 turnovers in their last 7 games.
Matt39
The Jets have generally always been horrible at forcing turnovers. It’s been an issue for over 10 years now. 2

It is also part of the Saleh "system" the 49er defense is much different after Saleh. Saleh is awful. We have the best corners in football, Q who may or may not continue to play well under a new contract and a bunch of good players. We are not a dynamic defense.

Some of this is just random too, and we should naturally regress to the mean.

rangerous
Takeaways can make bad teams look awful good. The jets started out okay this past season. As others have said, they just weren’t playing teams that needed to take chances. The bad offense just made it easier for the other team. With milfy gone and Rodgers at qb this should change. Unacceptable- has to change and think it will with a better offense
RoadFan
I knew the percentage of fumbles that the Jets defense recovers had to be horrendous. I found a site to look it up which confirms it. 2016: 45.65% (23rd) 2017: 50%. (15th) 2018: 45.45% (25th) 2019: 42% (29th) 2020: 40% (27th) 2021: 35%. (31st) 2022: 40% (30th) https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/fumble-recovery-pct?date=2023-02-13 Take a look for yourself. There could be some patterns with coaching? Maybe some staffs were/are more effective with their fumble drills…

Following your comment you will predictably hear others just give bs takes just looking at stats. They don't tell the whole story. These are same people that don't think hall is as game changing as he was, how much Zack hurt us etc.

Alex G
This team has been allergic to recovering fumbles for as long as I can remember. Saleh really needs to start drilling this down and making it a point of emphasis in practices. Yes, there is some version of luck involved but when you are at the bottom of the league in % of fumble recoveries year after year, its reflective of a systematic problem.

jNYC1
It definitely felt like most of our takeaways were in the first half of season… confirmed by the stats in the last 6 games and the losing streak. Interior pressure is extremely valuable but I believe explosion off the edge is what more effectively generates turnovers - strip sacks and interceptions. Hopefully we get even better/ more explosion from Lawson, JJ, Huff, and Will M
