Optimistic vs Pessimistic Ways To Look At This Upcoming Season

Recommended Posts

Optimistic : We acquired a HOF QB who seems like he loves it here and still has plenty of talent.  We also have a potentially big-time defense, good enough weapons (maybe better than that depending on how the OL holds up, the health of Breece, and the potential emergence of Ruckert).

Pessimistic: Our schedule is absolutely brutal.  We're likely at best going to split with all 3 teams in our division.  Brutal games vs KC and Philly.  A 3-3 start feels "good case" realistic.  There are many games that look winnable that could easily go the other way.  For example, at Denver, at Dallas, at NYG, vs LA Chargers.  We also close the season at New England.  Feels like it has "nightmare" potential.

At best split with the division? Thats just dumb. This team has the potential to beat any team and lose to any team... but saying their ceiling is only splitting in the division is very pessimistic.

Optimistic - we go 13-4 , win the division, make it to the Super Bowl!

Pessimistic - Rodgers blows out his Achilles just after he completes the  65% for the plays of the season , allowing Green Bay to get the first round pick to boot.

I’m staying optimistic

Which team do you see us sweeping?  The Bills are the favorites in the division.  The Pats have owned us for years and still have BB.  The Dolphins are still a talented team (though we can potentially sweep them if Tua isn't healthy).

EDIT: I forgot the Dolphins signed Mike White.  Even if Tua gets hurt, they'll still probably get at least one game off of us (assuming MFW doesn't get hurt).

Optimistic ... We have the pieces for an uncontested deep playoffs run.

Pessimistic... Team continues to sniff its own turds believing that the lucky cupcake wins from last year are an indication of their greatness after losing to Minnesota the worst d in the league. Ending up with an 8-9 record.

It would great if they did get out of the gate fast but a 3-3 start is not the end of the world. Even 2-4 might not be. Why because is might shock them into realizing they need to play the games.  If they shot out of the gate 5-1 I’d be really worried they’d start believing the newspaper clippings and then suffer a let down. Saleh is going to have his work cut out for him. Hackett and Ulbrich t better bring their A games.

Saleh needs to have the defense ready to go. They looked this part against 3rd stringers last year and faded quickly when they played real QB’s. If you’re going to sit back in zone and rush 4 you better force some turnovers. Looking at you Sauce.
