Hard Knocks Storylines?

Every year the show seems to focus on 6-9 storylines over the course of the season.  What will they be this year? Some possibilities...

  • All things Aaron Rodgers
  • Quinnen's contract
  • Immense pressure on Saleh & Douglas, Jets playoff drought, etc.
  • Mekhi Becton's comeback from injuries / weight issues
  • Breece Hall's ACL rehabilitation
  • Zach Wilson dealing with being cast off as a backup
  • Sauce Gardner / Garrett Wilson's massive year 2 expectations
  • Packer imports (Cobb, Lazar, Amos)
  • Positional battles:
    • Tippman vs. McGovern
    • Izzy vs. Carter
    • LT / RT
  • WR's trying to stick:  Irv Charles, Jason Brownlee
  • Other fringe roster guys:  Mims, Nasrildeen, Guidry, Bryce Hall, Yeboah, Kuntz

I’d be really surprised if any of those bullets don’t receive attention.

Great,  another media PR bullsh*t to try to make the Jets relevant again. Woody is loving this I am sure, off-season champs again. I am tired of all the hype BS with only sh*tty results on the field to show  for it.
I would like to  to see this team for once be quiet put  in the work in the off season and show results on the field consistently. NYJ #justblueballs.

The most likely to prove that they aren’t self aware and media savvy are definitely Saleh and Becton.  There’s bad blood there too.  That could flare up.

Mims being on the bubble and potentially getting replaced by a young guy could be a story.

Nature of the beast -- recent playoff teams are exempt from Hard Knocks, so if the Jets want to be exempt they can solve that by at least earning a WC spot for a change.

At the same time, it's not lost on me - that was brought up by others - that the distraction may be overblown: the last time the Jets were on Hard Knocks they ended up 1 touchdown away from reaching the Super Bowl -- and that '10 team didn't quite have Aaron Rodgers at QB.

You forgot Michael Clemons, and he's now headed to your home address.

It's not that serious also from all accounts Jets didn't have much choice.

Agree with what you are saying but the jets have been all hype and no substance. Just show up on game day. Keep your head down and work hard don’t talk about how you are going to do it just do it.

No doubt, but there's not much they can do when there's nothing to do. Game day is still quite a bit away yet.

Aaron Rogers injury and how it affects the team

Saleh finding stairs to run in Florham Park to get more individual camera time

Watching Breece on the bike wondering if he will be ready for week 1

Quinnen's  hold out

Camera up Sauces ass like a colonoscopy  and never leaving him alone

CJ and his post football career that we dont care about

Zacks conduct and how he handles being demoted

Bectons set back from knee surgery

You nailed it. If they cover those things I'll be very pleased. Excellent job

They need to figure out the contract stuff ASAP or it will be the non-stop focus point until they do.  That means not only Quinnen, but Rodgers, and the numerous other players who will need to be dealt with to make the latter one even possible (e.g., Mosley, Davis).

After that, Rodgers and Wilson, both together and separate, will be non-stop points of focus.  Plenty of attention to JD and Saleh, as they're likely to both end this year as either saviors or unemployed.

Then of course a bunch of fringe roster guys HBO always tries to make into feel-good stories, usually including a mix of a few guys they expect to make the roster and a few others they don't.

Only other one I can think of not mentioned is I suspect McDonald will get a pretty decent amount of attention too, given that was considered a somewhat controversial pick, and high-picked rookies are always popular media focus points anyway.

Pretty much nailed it. Only other thing I can see them devoting time to is talking about Klecko and Revis (probably will stick roscoe diner in somewhere) heading to the hall.

I don't remember feeling very good about Kevin Basped.  I really thought he was a solid player coming out of Nevada, but if it were really just his knees being the issue why wouldn't he get a practice squad shot to see if he could stay healthy?  Was it that it sapped his ability to run?  A decade later, I still feel bad for that guy and I didn't even watch Hard Knocks.
