---  Most impactful offseason addition (not named Rodgers): Hackett

Coach Robert Saleh raised some eyebrows by hiring Hackett, a one-year flameout as the Denver Broncos' head coach in 2022, but it could turn out to be a brilliant move. Hackett's presence lured Rodgers to New York, which has changed everything. Now it's on Hackett -- who experienced both success and failure in his three previous stops as a coordinator with the Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills -- to put it all together. He has the autonomy to operate the offense as he sees fit. No doubt, he will lean heavily on Rodgers. Hackett is an upbeat, player-friendly coach. That should boost morale, which was down after last season's disastrous finish under predecessor Mike LaFleur -- a six-game losing streak, including only 15 points scored in the final three games. There's nowhere to go but up; the Jets have finished 23rd or worse in scoring for seven straight years.

The wheels were put in motion to get Rodgers way before it actually happened.  This should be a seemless transition and our offense is in good hands and functioning at a high level from the start.

That is what we are all hoping for, but there are other factors that may come into play. The offense is new to most of the offensive players and will need to become second nature to them. This could take some time. The O-line will need to "gel", which could take a little bit. I wouldn't be surprised to see it take a few games (or more) before we are firing on all cylinders. Once we do, the world is our oyster!

That said, I am hoping we hit the ground running.

Yea, we all know Adam Gase was the mastermind behind getting Rodgers to the Jets. He was just playing the long game.

With Hackett I think they have a coach who’s comfortable in his own skin. I don’t think he’s going to hold himself above the players and try dictate what players will if they aren’t capable. I know it’s easy to say but coaches need to play to players strengths.

I believe there's an important aspect of the current AR saga in 2023 that hasn't received enough discussion. Specifically, I want to highlight hacketts role in persuading Rodgers to sign with the Jets. It's crucial to acknowledge the impact Hackett had in sealing the deal, as last season Rodgers seemed unlikely to leave his previous team, and this season his presence with us is undoubtedly one of the main reasons he chose to join the Jets. Of course, the primary reason for his decision is AR's ambition to be the one who brings a Lombardi trophy to the Jets, making the seemingly impossible possible. Setting that aside, I can't help but feel a sense of unease about the terrible Broncos' offense of that Hackett team. They had a talented roster but struggled greatly. While I understand that we should expect hackett to tailor the offense to Rodgers' preferences, there's still a small part of me that fears he might restrict our offense, doing just dumb ass sh*t similar to what happened with Gase. For any other team, I would assign a mere 2% chance of this occurring, but for us, it feels more like a 25% possibility.

HACKETT PLEASE BE NOT CRAPPY

It's amazing how most OC's are brilliant when they have a FQB to work with.

Extends to other sports.  Remember what a genius Phil Jackson was coaching Jordan/Pippen and later Kobe/Shaq.

The ‘Zen Master’ and the triangle offense.

He then flamed out as an Exec for the Knicks, going thru 3 coaches in a 3 seasons.  I guess talent matters..

As an OC I like what I’ve read about him being a teacher and making it fun.

From a scheme pov, I’ve read it’s old school west coast timing offense with some old k-gun mixed in and he likes sweeps and reverses.

of course it doesn’t hurt to have an ego free BFF relationship with the QB

Nathaniel Hackett was hired this offseason to be the Jets’ offensive playcaller, but he says Aaron Rodgers will be calling plenty of plays at the line of scrimmage, and the Jets will benefit from that.Hackett said a key part of the Jets’ wide receivers’ job in training camp will be learning to watch Rodgers for any signal that he’s changing a play or a pass route based on what he sees from the opposing defense.

“It’s something that he takes a lot of pride in, and it’s something that we love to see because he takes advantage of certain areas on the field,” Hackett said, via the New York Post. “It definitely puts a little pressure on the wide receivers because they can’t ever just lock in on something that they’re going to be doing. If the quarterback sees an advantageous look for something, he’ll give you something very quick, and you have to have your eyes on him and eyes on the ball.”

Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history at calling for quick snaps to take advantage of defensive mistakes like a player lined up offside or too many players on the field, and then connecting deep downfield with a receiver on the free play. The Jets know their receivers need to be ready for that.

Josh McDaniels gotta be in that convo @Raideraholic

Might be but he’s hell of a play caller - top three.  No doubt he has to improve on certain things . Getting less conservative and more aggressive go for the kill mentality   .( seven double digit second half  blown leads last year)    Like to see him not be so rigid with players in his system.  For example Hunter Renfrow- have let him do his thing because when he does very hard to stop man to man. ( D ADams does his own thing too).    I’m willing to give him three years to see if he can improve .

The coach more on the hot seat is Dc Patrick Graham .    He came in with big reputation, and talk about being up for head coaching jobs.      Time for him to deliver , and get the best out of their young players  Lb Devine Deablo ( hurt for most last year) S Trevon Moehrig - regressed playing different  role than his rookie year ( D Harmon - played where he played) Cb Nate Hobbs - played very well first five games ( graded out as well as anyone) but broke his hand and when came back just didn’t play the same.    Also criminal that  de Malcolm Koonce hasn’t gotten the playing time he deserves- when he plays he provides pressure.      He got a lot of his type of players this year, and have to start see results.
