For those who wanted Justin Fields (Updated: Heavily MVP candidate)

I loved Fields that last year in college.  the game against Clemson where he lost some ribs and still threw 6 TDs to win was incredible.

But let's not ignore the fact that the Bears were 3-14 last season.

Maybe with some real WRs around him, his passing will somewhat catch up to his running.  I know he has the skill set to do it.

The Bears are loaded with draft picks next year and should be a team on the rise.

Neither should have been picked in the 1st round.

The Bears seem to have faith in him and this will probably be his breakout year.

I can't say I wanted him by if he put it together this year the bears might actually be good. If he passes well this year he seriously is a giant step. He now has a real WR1. Plus some decent RB, and TE etc. I mean it reminds me of Lamar Jackson big year

All Fields has done in the nfl is lose games and qb one of the worst offenses in football.  His throwing is atrocious.

Justin Fields will have a better career than Zach Wilson.

True or false?

Struggles against pressure, like Wilson. We’ll see if the running ability helps bridge him to progressing as a passer like it has for guys like Allen and Hurts. That was the hope if you wanted him (I did) and I think it’s going to become trendy for teams going forward if Richardson hits. Do think the issues with pressure muddy that a little though.

Like Saleh a lot, but that offseason I wanted Daboll and Fields. Would’ve been interesting.

He's a fraud, he ran a lot last year but his passing and play reading is terrible, he gets sacked an ungodly number of times.  (holds the ball), turns it over and does not win football games.

The amount of people who felt he 'turned the corner' last year is amazing.

The Bears should have traded him and drafted Bryce Young.

I wanted him prior to the College Championship game against Alabama, which I watched intently.

He was very poor against pressure and threw off his back foot.  This was the game to evaluate him and he did NOT pass the test.  That’s a major reason he dropped..

Post game article below..

“He struggled in the first half when Alabama pulled away, completing just 6 of 15 passes for 90 yards in the first 30 minutes. He badly missed an open Garrett Wilson in the end zone as Ohio State had to settle for a field goal. It was at that point the game began to get away from the Buckeyes. Although they trailed just 21-17 late in the first half, two consecutive three-and-outs after the field goal would quickly turn into a 35-17 deficit by halftime.”

Nick Bosa: "He's probably the best running quarterback I've seen."

Headline: "Nick Bosa says Justin Fields is the best running quarterback of all-time."

Sports media is awful.

he's definitely better than Wilson which isn't saying much. Wheels are an essential trait for qbs at this point unless they're the once every 15 year types like Burrow and even he can move around pretty well.

Alabama absolutely dominated that game, and Fields was outstanding against Clemson.

The pressure problems existed for Wilson too, he just didn’t play good teams so it was harder to see. When it came to Wilson versus Fields - both guys had strong arms and struggles versus pressure. Wilson had a bit of a looser arm and Fields a far better athlete. Would’ve preferred the developmental cushion the athleticism gives.

My first preference in that class truly would’ve been trading down. I would’ve loved the deal Miami got for three.

He should have been picked over Zach Wilson. who by the way continues to struggle.

To this point ... No
.. he really should not have been.

Yeah but if you had to take one we 100% took the wrong one.

Very true, but............

If we had Fields instead of Wilson, we might not have Aaron Rodgers right now. So, when you think about it, Zach Wilson is so bad, he's kinda good. Like a cheesy horror flick. Or like how had we not hired Adam Gase, we could theoretically still have Mike Maccagnan.

... and yet Fields is somehow a much less accomplished thrower of the football ... How is that possible ???

I don’t really care if Justin Fields is better than Zach Wilson. That isn’t exactly some high bar to clear.

I’d still take two years of Aaron Rodgers and a hard reset over hitching my wagon to Fields for the foreseeable future.

I absolutely was on the team Fields over Wilson.

I will say his game to date isn’t what I thought it’d be. But obviously he has a lot more developing to do. Didn’t think he’d be this good running ever. And I thought he’d be better than he is passing the ball.

Obviois we made the wrong choice. I think in a couple years it’ll look even worse. Because I do see Fields being a top 10 QB for sure in that time. Which my main argument for taking Fields over Wilson, was that Fields floor I thought was higher than Wilson’s. Mainly because of what competition they played and looked good against.
