First, the player must be on the 53-man roster; he can't be called up from the practice squad. Second, the third quarterback can play only if the other two are injured or ejected. If one of the injured quarterbacks if cleared to return, the third quarterback must exit.

Thanks. Not much relief for a team with multiple QB injuries

As other's have pointed out a 3rd QB is definitely a must, and I'd guess Bam Knight is probably the odd man out on the offense, unless Hall still isn't ready to go by regular season, in which case he'll likely start on the PUP anyway, opening up a spot.

I just don't see them carrying 4 active HBs, particularly with the real possibility of Bawden making the team, as some mentioned seems like a real possibility.

Others are tough to disagree with for now though, although a combination of preseason surprise breakouts, practice heroes who turn out to be on-field duds, and as much as I hate to say it... injuries, often tend to mix things up for all teams over the next month and change.

Yeah, that's ugly.  If the team has confidence in their young DEs, it might not be the worst idea to see what they could get back for Lawson, including possible player-for-player trades at LB.

Great job, but I have a few questions / thoughts:

  1. Did you overlook Quinton Jefferson, or do you really think he won't make the team?
  2. As @Larz mentioned, if early-camp usage is any indication, Bawden may make the 53, possibly at the expense of Bam.
  3. Just a shot in the dark, but I think Chazz Surratt may give Hamsah a run for his money as LB #5.

Even though it feels like we lose any game where QB1 and QB2 are out, I don't think we can honestly go into any game with just 2 QBs. I could see us skipping on the 10th OL or 4th TE for QB3.  Hate to see a potentially productive TE sit but TE4 isn't going to necessarily be the difference in a close game.

Bawden might be Hall's spot early if Hall isn't ready to be active Week 1.  Hard to know about that yet.  And that's not counting if we bring someone else in to fill it.

Yeah, when you see how many good players they’re going to wind up cutting as it is, can’t see cutting another for an emergency QB on the 53. It’s the first year with this rule. It’s likely to be tweaked, imo.

I added three and removed a few leaving 2 empty spots. Those spots will likely go whichever they think is most likely to get claimed during waivers between: Bam Knight, Jason Brownlee, Jarrick Bernard Converse, Kenny Yeboah, or another player that has a huge preseason. I think Kuntz will easily slide to the practice squad unless he has a good preseason. The experience of Yeboah is more important in the short term so he takes one spot and Bam Knight makes the initial roster and is dropped after waiver claims go through and moved to the practice squad.

I think a bunch of people have already posted it, but I am pretty high on Bawden and Quinton Jefferson making the roster.  Of the guys listed as part of the 53 I think most likely not to make it are Bam and Nasrildeen.  I think Jefferson stays over Solomon Thomas.  I expect another receiver to make it and probably another Olineman to get cut, but agree that seems like a tough out.  As usual, injuries will sort a bunch of this.  I wonder how many LB they actually carry.  They carried 5 last year and it is a key ST spot.  Zaire Barnes was drafted and certainly has a leg up.  I agree Surratt who was a previous 3rd of the Vikings and is a good athlete has a chance to stick if they like him on specials.  Injuries probably make several of these decisions unecessary.

My two current main dark horse candidates are Jimmy Moreland at DB and Travis Dye at RB.

Will a player who is specifically a special teams player make it this year in light of the new special teams rules changes?

They have been carrying Justin Hardee since Saleh got here.  I can't imagine a change in the kickoff rule changes that.  The Jets lost 2 games last year on punt returns, so it is still pretty important.

Awesome Job. I'd swap Kuntz for Bawden. I don't know much about Hackett's offense, but It sounds like they are using him a lot this preseason. Can't remember the last time I've heard a FB mentioned this much in training camp. Imo, Kuntz would need to be on fire all summer for him to be a consideration for the 53.

Also not sure we keep 10 OL and 4 RB unless Hall starts on PUP. I'm interested to see who hard knocks focuses on. It seems seems like they always have a long shot they showcase.

I think one thing we're forgetting is the distinct possibility of a player or two going on IR sometime before the start of the regular season.  It sucks, but it happens every single year.  I agree that Quinton Jefferson makes the team over Solomon Thomas, with possibly Surratt or Bawden or Bam being that player that sneaks up on the 47 man roster, if and when a player or two go on IR.  People on the board seem to like Bawden over Bam, but I'm not so sure.  The Jets will not carry 5 running backs, so it will be interesting.

I flat out don't like Nasrildeen, and will keep hope alive that Kwon is resigned.

If noone gets injured during the preseason, then I think that would be a first!
