Offensive Tackle Trade Market ..

Recommended Posts

The Jets cannot risk a slow start to the season or an injury to Rodgers.

Realistically, a trade might be the best option to significantly improve the position AND give the offensive line time to gel before the season.

I think Brown & Becton stay on the left.  Has Becton even practiced 1x on the right side?  This is the side that is supposedly more stressful on his injured knee.

If true, the right side is the side with a glaring weakness.  Mitchell & Turner appear no better than swing tackles.  Warren isn’t ready.  AVT is an All Pro candidate at guard.

1. Are we looking at trades?

2. Who might be available?

3. What do we give up?

Becton has already given up pancakes. What more does he have to do?

We have probably the best depth of an OL in the league. I don’t see much movement on the OL. Just waiting to get Brown back and Becton to go regularly.

Assuming our starting OL is… Brown, Laken, CMG, AVT, Becton

A backup OL of Turner, Schweitzer, Tippman Warren is good. We don’t need more bodies.

But Becton hasn’t played a snap at RT, has he?  I think there might be a concern with putting too much stress in his repaired knee.

I’m not sure he is going to mentally be able to do it.  Sad as that is..

JD thinks he is going to get lucky like he did with Morgan Moses.

Tough to count on that.

This is the best opportunity for the NY Jets in well  probaby forever.

JD better not f-up at OT.  No better way to ruin the team's opportunity.

If the Jets are desperate, there will be some OTs they can look to pry away.

1. Bakhtiari—Rodgers and Bakhtiari have been insinuating a deal since Rodgers got here, and he’s Rodgers’ best friend in the world. Bakhtiari, like Becton, has been on a pitch count in Packers camp, bouncing in and out of drills when he feels up to it. The hangup with this one is the cap hit for the Packers. While they’re dumping him after the season anyway, dealing him now results in a $22 mil hit for them this season, so Douglas would have to compensate them for that pain. The Packers might do it because they have two young OL who have shown promise filling in for Bakhtiari in the past (Yosh Nijman and Zach Tom).

2. Yosh Nijman—This would be ideal, but less likely than Bakhtiari because Nijman  is 27, makes $4 mil this year, and is Bakhtiari’s successor at OLT. That said, Nijman is from Orange, NJ.

3. Josh Jones—The Cardinals took Jones in the third round a few years ago and tried to play him at guard, where he sucked. He’s an athletic dude who’s stuck behind DJ Humphries. He might be available because the Cards are tanking and just drafted Paris Johnson anyway. He played pretty well filling in for Humphries last year (77.8 PFF grade).

4. Kelvin Beachum: Languishing on a bad Cardinals team, backing up at ORT. Beachum obviously played here, so he might not be in a rush to come back, but he’s also the guy who went on the record about Kyler Murray being a titty-baby.

Has Bakhtiari ever played RT? Seems like he might be like Brown and only play LT.

The Packers are not trading Bakhtiari to the Jets.

Probably not, but they’re absolutely boned on that contract next year and Jordan Love isn’t looking great in camp. They might be motivated to start thinking about the future, soon

Here's a crazy thought, that might not be that crazy. Becton and draft picks to a rebuilding Texans team for Laremy Tunsil im sure Duane Brown can give it a go at RT. .He played RT for two years in college.Years ago, I know. Maybe AVT at RT, for a few games until Brown gets acclimated to it in practice????

If you’re looking to make a “splash” move, then TRULY push your chips to the middle of the table (our window is 2-3 years anyway) go get Zack Martin and kick AVT over to RT.

That's how you do it.  Find an economics way to make it work.
