Pittsburgh Steelers

Broderick Jones came in late in the first quarter for starting LT Dan Moore Jr. and played most of the rest of the way in the team's 27-17 win at Tampa Bay on Friday. He was strong as a run blocker, moving his man off the ball, sealing the edge or using his length to push linebackers out of the way at the second level. While only truly beaten once in pass protection (resulting in a fourth-quarter sack), Jones was stilted in his slide and regularly was late with his hands, allowing his man to get under his pads and push him backwards. Most times, he recovered using his quick feet and strength, however, throwing defenders to the ground to keep them from making plays. Jones also missed a blitzer off the edge in the third quarter, resulting in a pressured throw.

I don't think the Jets missed on a stud left tackle here - I dont think Aaron Rodgers would accept a rookie left tackle starting right away unless he was an absolute brick wall.

By the way - Will McDonald got an A.

Maybe offensive lineman take more then a couple months to be good at nfl.

I was not a fan of Broderick Jones for the Jets, to me he has the air of a future bust, so I feel like we dodged a bullet when the Cheats gave him to the Steelers.

Having said that, it's very early to be making a call on Jones. People thought Becton was a better pick than Andrew Thomas in the first year.

Jones is a baby entering his rookie season and we're making determinations? Holy crap.

People, when you've watched football for a very long time, you realize one thing about rookies: disregard anything they do year 1, good or bad. It's meaningless. I don't care if they oroy or droy. Do it 2 years in a row then we'll talk.
