Shocker - He is ready for a cameo in the last preseason game.

Not worried about Duane Brown per se, just about the amount of tread left on his tires

He's not playing in the pre-season game against the Giants.

If he's cleared this week, they'll use the 3 remaining weeks in practice to get him ready for week 1

Starting to get the sense this was just a nice way to allow Brown to skip camp.  There's still 3 full weeks before the first game - plenty of time for a vet right Brown to get ready.

I hope!

The term "gentleman's camp" means exactly this.  It's not uncommon for older players.

It's just health with this team.

If the big dogs stay healthy, this team can be a dominant offense, running and passing.   Rodgers play action off a real running threat of Breece and Cook could be a thing of beauty.   Hell, just running behind AVT and Becton could be a thing of beauty

Brown is an ok pass blocker and bad run blocker.  #1 priority this upcoming offseason is LT.  Unless becton has a great year and can move over there.

What?

Some of our biggest runs last year came from the left side with Duane Brown at 37 years old and a torn rotator cuff running 20+ yards downfield and flattening dudes.

Brown was never not healthy. He is just a veteran who didn't want to do camp/preseason. It was part of the deal to get him here.

You could definitely be right.  Although, that said, I tore my rotator cuff at 46.  Rehab was hell.  It took me over a year to get back to some sense of normalcy with my right arm, which is my dominant arm.  He's not that much younger than I was, but obviously is a professional athlete and in much better shape than I've ever been in, and he also has the advantage of a professional training staff and room, plenty of money, and availability of Drs. and specialized treatment that I didn't have access to.  Still, he tore both rotator cuffs, I don't know how he has managed.  I at least could use my left arm to do a lot of things.

Pro Football Focus agreed with my conclusion. With a run-blocking grade of 44.4, PFF ranked Brown as the second-worst run-blocking left tackle in the league among the 31 players to log at least 500 snaps at left tackle.

PFF had McDonald rated as one of our worst overall players against Carolina despite him making OL look silly left and right.

No one understands their grading system and they never would’ve achieved this level of relevance if Chris Collinsworth didn’t own them.

I think they were just holding Brown out to save some tread on the tires. I’m still more concerned/curious about Becton on the right side, and I’m guessing that Douglas still ends up making a play for a tackle at some point.

I know this is a problem league wide, but good grief Douglas needs help in scouting Oline. Does Warren even make the 53? I think the plan was to move on from Becton but now they’re in desperation mode for bodies. Tucker probably will have to start at RT out of necessity.

Brown

Tomlinson

Tippmann

AVT

Becton

Best 5. Make it happen.

Becton is on a pitch count that’s out of the Jets hands. Unless that’s lifted and Becton shows he can play 40- 50 snaps on Saturday they’re not putting him out there.

Brown played with one shoulder last year, run blocking is more physical than
pass blocking.  Therefore it's not shocking his PFF grade (which I don't believe
in) would be poor, it's hard to be physical with one shoulder
