$10m is $10m.  We'd still have a #1 WR and 3 serviceable vets. There are a few WR's fighting for a spot who might round out the room adequately.  I'm climbing on the cut C. Davis bandwagon myself now.

Further out TE's and RB's will be legit passing game targets.  For all those reason, Davis just isn't worth carrying.

Brownlee and Gipson both offer different things and I hate the thought of them not making it.

Randall Cobb is kind of in the way. But:

1. His connection with Rodgers guarantees his spot.

2. He will pull in 300 yards and along the way there is going to be some big catches. Catches that we don't want to trust a rookie to make.

That said, I think Davis falls into the same category. Not sure what is going on with his leave and why. All things being equal 10mm for a wide receiver isn't that crazy so I think he sticks. They are going with veterans this year.

I can dig it. Makes sense. Maybe they can stash brownie on the practice squad but he’s turned heads and he’s no secret.

Yeah I don't think he would get by. It was a mild surprise that he wasn't drafted and he was a coveted UDFA.

Who’s going to trade for a guy with a bad back, if they were trying to trade him they would never say he has back injury.   He has a bad back , and lucky the Jets have depth there thst it’s no big deal.   Maybe makes the 53 man initial and they then put him on temporary Ir , resign young De they cut.

I was thinking in terms of keeping him away from physical contact in order to mitigate risks of ongoing talks ... but yeah ... what you said makes way more sense.

I could see Izzy being placed on IR if he’s scheduled to miss the first 2 weeks. With Hall, Cook and Carter we can keep Bam until Izzy returns or use that vacancy to keep a WR (Brownlee or Gipson) or TE (KY or Kuntz) on the roster

Roster manipulation is a big part of a GM’s responsibility. JD in my opinion has done a very good job. Thing is that as the talent gets better the decisions get tougher. These roster decisions coming up will test his ability.

No,  it's because for what he brings to the table isn't worth the cap hit.  He's often sidelined for a game or two, he has not met expectations, and he has drop issues.  The only think he seems good at it run blocking.  That is not enough.

Davis has also had 2 years better than Lazard's career year.  Lazard, being the guy expected to be our #2.  Davis had a pretty damn good first year for us too, at least when you consider he only played 9 games.  If anyone on our current roster has the ability to be a competent #2, he would be the best bet.  Cutting him to save money(that we don't need to save) seems rather pointless.  I guess if you like Brownlee that much you can cut Davis for him, but that seems like a pretty massive risk...especially in an "all-in" type season.

This is the exact issue.  Everything else I listed is just icing on the cake.  None the less I think you're right; he stays for this all in season.  Just my thoughts on the player.

we kept 7 WR a few years ago. Brownlee as WR#6 and Gibson as PR/KR/WR7 and dump Hardee. I will always maintain we should cut Cobb and bring him onto the practice squad. We get some times to bring him up and if a WR gets hurt you permanently activate him. Makes his salary non-guaranteed too.

No. There's just no reason to risk aggravating it when he's less than 100%. From the way Saleh is talking Lawson would be playing right now if this was the regular season
