I don't know whether it's mental health, personal health, or family related, but whatever it is, it seems to be a big deal. Just hope it works out; whatever complaints you have about him as a player/contract, on a personal level he seems to be a legit good dude.

Wife or kid health is the first thing I think of when somebody is out like this. I think if it was contract issues that there would be more info leaking from agent... Just my guess

It certainly sounds as though Corey Davis is dealing with a pretty significant personal issue - and the Jets are supporting him through it, as a good employer should. We don't need to know any more than that.

I am wondering if Davis not endearing himself to Rodgers is part of this.  Davis blew off the offseason program and rodgers was there for every one of them.  Rodgers may have saw that as a slap in the face.

I think there is much more to this then what we are being told.

Rodgers probably told Douglas to get rid of this guy.  They told Davis to take a MAJOR pay cut or he is getting cut.

Davis doesnt seem to love the game, has plenty of money in the bank and figure, "Why uproot my family again.  Im done"

Doesn't the bolded kind of make everything you wrote before that unnecessary speculation? 

I know we are living in a time where people jack off to conspiracy theories like pornhub, but maybe the guy's heart just wasn't in it anymore? I think blaming Rodgers or the Jets for this without some kind of actual evidence is a huge stretch.

There probably is "much more to this then what we are being told".

But there is absolutely no sense in speculation or conspiracy theories.

He retired, he's gone.  The why is none of our business most likely.

It’s kind of well known in sports circles that a lot of pro athletes don’t really “love” the game. They don’t have a genuine passion for it. They’re gifted and it’s an obvious career path toward money and security, but it’s not something they’d be doing if it didn’t offer those things.

Corey Davis was a top five pick who signed a good contract with the Jets. He’s financially set for life. I suspect football is a grind and he doesn’t really want to play. It can be annoying as “fans” but I’m not even sure I’d make a different decision if I were him.

Perhaps the reason he didn't is he was already questioning whether he wanted to play this season or not? IMHO, it's better to not turn up at all than to turn up and not be "all in" (to borrow an overused phrase). This way he wasn't taking time away from the rest of his team-mates, or being any sort of a distraction.

Whatever the reason for it all - it's entirely his business and hopefully if there is anything amiss for him and his family it works out for the best.
