Rams got a SB.  They win.

Lions got tons of picks and Goff for a QB with 1 year left.  They win

Sometimes both teams can win.

Rams got their super bowl

Goff has been good for the Lions plus the other pieces.

If you win a super bowl because of a trade you never lose the trade.

This.   You can close the book on this one.  Both won.

They play for Lombardi's in the NFL. The Rams won the trade until the Lions win a ring w/Goff.

Not unless you think the Lions would have won a SB without the trade, in which case I have to ask what you're smoking.

That deal was win-win. That's the way it's supposed to be.

If you're asking who won that sounds like you're asking who has the better results. No?

Was the trade bad for the Lions? No. Was it better for the Rams? Without question.

No. You're asking whether the team was better off for having made the trade than they would have been otherwise. It's possible for both teams to "win" a trade

Sounds like something the every kid gets a trophy generation came up with. In order for there to be a winner their must also be a loser.

If you want to declare a "winner", the Rams won. If you're asking if it helped both teams, the answer is yes. But that's not the question.

I think the Jets handled the whole Aaron Rodgers trade very poorly and paid way more than we should have.

If the Jets do well with him then the trade was good no matter the cost.

Would you have waited them out?

what was plan b if someone else got him?

they handled the rodgers part amazingly well.  They made him feel loved.  He took a massive pay cut of guaranteed money and has been a great locker room guy.

no person in history has given up that much $ both absolute and percent.

Lions won by a landslide.   No one respects the Rams bought super bowl.

Now they will suck for years.

If the Jets win the same way with Rodgers, how is it any different?  Who doesn’t respect the trophy that you think the Rams “bought”?  The Lions wasted Stafford like he was Mike Trout or Shohei Ohtani, and then unceremoniously shipped him off thinking that he didn’t have it in him to win a championship.  He and the Rams proved that wrong.

Furthermore, there have been a ton of “Dream Teams” and they usually go up in flames when built the way that the Rams did it.  If we’re looking at it objectively, it’s an even bigger reason to praise or respect the front office and coaching staff for brining in the right guys.

The packers wanted desperately to get rid of Rodgers for a lot of reasons.

There were zero other teams other than the jets making a serious play for Rodgers.

As many on these forums had said they and no leverage and the jets had it all.

The jets waited and waited until ALL other alternatives were gone.

Aaron Rodgers comes out and says I am going to play for the Jets

Joe Douglas comes out and says Rodgers will be a Jet

All before any deal was made.

A basic tenant of being a gm or a negotiator is to not state you have made a deal until the deal is done becasue the other side just smiles and ups the price or holds firm, which is what the packers did.

The Packer GM should be knighted by Packer fans for getting a higher 1st rounder a second rounder (the one just ahead of the jets) and a first rounder next year (if all goes well for the Jets). out of a situation where his team wanted very very badly to get rid of the player due to the falling out and the cost of the contract for them.

are you sure there were no other teams lurking in the background?  this is your big assumption.  Obviously if correct then the packers won the trade.

especially given the salary cut he was willing to take?  My guess is several teams would have given a 2nd rounder given the modest salary reduction.

the reason AR came here was he wanted to feel loved.  The Jets did that during the courtship and all thru training camp.

How was it possible for the Jets to move up the timeline? Rodgers hadn't decided his plan.  So your idea would be to force him to make a decision before he's ready?  That's not a great way to start the relationship.

i would have preferred to make the first conditional on making the playoffs.  I think the Jets assume they will make it so it's a freebie.

their draft pick mcdonald would have been there 2 spots earlier.  not sure it cost them anything.

Illegitimate super bowl now a decade of misery.  Enjoy ram fans!!!!!

We had a decade of misery with no SB. I’ll take the Rams deal any day.
