IMHO - 5 players who could still make the team or get cut….

Recommended Posts

  1. Trey Dean S - played great all summer, did he do enough? Is a spot available for him? Do we need an extra spot elsewhere? Did Davis’ improved play mean Dean is a goner?
  2. Billy Turner OT - Played well but if we are keeping Carter Warren & Max Mitchell as backup tackles, Turner could be the odd man out - would be a brutal cut. Is Warren hurt? Can he go on IR?
  3. Bryce Hall CB - Sauce, Reed, Carter, and Echols are locks. Hardee is probably a lock.  Who is the 6th CB? Will the Jets look to at a CB from the Waiver Wire? Echols has the 1 game suspension of course to muddy the script
  4. Irvin Charles WR - Big WR who played better as camp moved along.  Strong special teamer. Will the Jets keep 6 WRs? If so, Charles has to be right in the conversation. Is Malik Taylor hurt?
  5. Chazz Surratt LB - He’s the 5th LB right now.  Will the Jets keep 5? Will they find another LB on the waiver wire?

Trey dean needs to stay

Agreed

Even at the expense of carrying a 6th receiver.

Jordan Whitehead is as good as gone after this year, Chuck Clark’s Jet career is pretty much over before it even began, and despite how high the Jets seemingly are on Tony Adams in a centerfielder role, we have no damn clue how things will go with him when the season starts.

Dean looks to have legitimate potential as a longterm box safety.

By the way, am I the only one who find this Tony Adams sh*t to be maybe the most peculiar, under the radar case of the entire offseason?

The Jets have had their Top 15 pick, rookie edgerusher playing late into the 4th quarter of pre-season games…but Tony Adams, an UDFA from a year ago with limited snaps as a rookie is an undisputed starter who rests the entire way?

Huh?

That kid better ball out this year. And the Jets better know something that the rest of us don’t.

McDonald needs game reps and is playing at a position that the Jets are deep at; if the worst case happens and he gets injured in a preseason game, they'll be fine at edge. Not as good as they otherwise would be, but fine.

If Adams gets hurt they are screwed. Wrap him in bubble wrap.

Has Carter Warren done anything to be considered a lock? Is a 4th rounder a lock to make the roster?

Craig James has looked better in my opinion.

The WR spot will depend on the decision on the number of TEs and QBs

Dean and Surrant should make the team. I think they will only get better as the season progresses.

It is a head scratcher. They seem very happy with him but damn he got the bubble wrap treatment for sure. Surprising.

I think the 4th rounder part makes him a lock.  :)

What a disappointment Hall has been. Can't see how he makes the team

Been rooting for him. Seems like a good guy. But he can't be counted on to play here...Maybe some other system where he's facing the action..He can't run with WRs and find the ball..It's obvious.

I don't think there's any chance Billy Turner is cut. He's the first guy in if a tackle goes down.

He started at LT last night with Brown not ready yet. Agree, he's not getting cut.

It's Brown and Turner on the left, Becton and Mitchell on the right. Warren probably to short-term IR after final cuts.

This is all the more intriguing with Warren, Lawson and Izzy dealing with injuries to start off the season. Will they go on IR? How long will they be out? And as you mentioned, with Echols having to serve that one game suspension.

Personally, from what I  have seen so far, I think Surratt has a great chance to make the team, even if temporarily, while Lawson is on IR.

I think Echols will be replaced with Moreland for the one week that he is out.

I’ve heard some talk about Warren being stashed on IR, although I don’t really see that happening. If it does, Turner will most definitely make it.

IMO Charles is a highly unlikely candidate to make the team. If the Jets carry 6 it will be Brownlee and Gipson. They won’t keep Charles just because of his size as a receiver.

Hall has to be a major cut candidate. His production has fallen completely off a cliff and he’s simply not done enough in camp or preseason to warrant a roster spot, imo. If the Jets go with 6 corners, it will be

Sauce, Reed, Carter, Echols, Hardee and Moreland. *Dean will take Echols spot in week one.

As far as Dean making the roster, I think he played well in preseason and is right on the bubble but with Whitehead, Amos, Adams and Davis, it’s just too many guys ahead of him right now. I don’t think the Jets carry 5 safeties and 6 corners.
