Are we jumping the gun with Zaire Barnes?

Myself and many others have put together 53 man rosters that include Barnes without seemingly giving it a ton of thought.  But considering the fact that he led the team in missed tackles this preseason (7) and allowed 15 completions on 15 targets (per PFF), is he that much of a lock to make the roster?  It's not as if he's a premium pick out of a powerhouse school.  A sixth-round pick out of Western Michigan may need a bit of time before he's ready.

Meanwhile, we heard Saleh gushing over Surratt on Hard Knocks.

I think both of them will make the team. They’re obviously high on Barnes so I don’t see them risking losing him. I think there’s ways you can finalize this roster where you can keep guys like Barnes, Kuntz and Dean without really sacrificing much if any of this year’s success.

But no I don’t think they’re jumping the gun by not giving up on their 6th round pick from 4 months ago.

Surratt is a lock 🔒 Barnes seems to be like an ADHD kid out there running around in circles.

I think Barnes makes it, as he is a draft pick with great athletic ability.  Teams usually give guys like that a chance.

Surratt is a guy we know Saleh likes - but we also know he can make it to the Practice Squad and not be claimed, as he did last year.

6th round, freak athlete, small school tweener...yeah, I assume he'll need some time to develop.  He kind of profiles like a Jamal Adams....weakside blitzer, decent run defender who sucks in coverage, makes sense he's a little lost out there.

Jamal Adams was the most overrated draft pick in the history of America.

Was the most deadly cancer of good team culture
