Jets’ New 6-Foot-10 Signing Called ‘Imposing’ & ‘Unique

The New York Jets’ final practice squad signing flew a bit under the radar, which is ironic considering the prospect’s 6-foot-10 frame.

The Jets announced the deal with offensive tackle Ryan Swoboda on their website and X on August 31, with contributor Randy Lange writing that “[his] claim to fame so far is his outstanding stature — he’s been listed at 6-10 and 325 pounds.”

“[Swoboda] had 39 starts at tackle for Virginia before finishing his college career at Central Florida,” Lange went on, “then was signed by [the] Detroit [Lions] as an undrafted free agent in May. He played in all three of the Lions’ preseason games, seeing 34 offensive snaps in all.”

Dan Skipper, Detroit Lions, 6’10”

There are a few guys listed at 6’10”. As a current player, the 325-pound Dan Skipper wins the tiebreaker, slotting in right below Sligh.

Jonathan Ogden, Baltimore Ravens, 6’9″

The best offensive tackle of all time? No doubt, Johnathan Ogden would be at or near the top of that list. The No. 4 overall pick of the 1996 draft, Ogden played 12 dominant seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl every year after his rookie campaign while eventually becoming his franchise’s first Pro Football Hall of Famer.

Alejandro Villanueva, Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, 6’9″

There’s been a trend so far with the tallest players remaining on the same team throughout their careers. Alejandro Villanueva went a different route — a much different route.

After playing college football for Army, he completed three deployments in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger. For rescuing wounded soldiers amidst heavy enemy fire, he was awarded the Bronze Star for valor.

He looks pretty athletic. That’s a big dude. I wanna see McDuck jump over this guy then I’ll be convinced he was the right pick in the 1st round.

We call my cousin Brian Minut Bol. He's 6'10 and weighed about 175 lbs in senior year. He has since filled out hanks to Budweiser...

My cousin Greg was 7'1 and large. NC State Highway Patrolman. RIP.

At 6'2 270, I'm a shrimp in my family. 😆
