DK Line: Buffalo -2.5

After an inspiring season of HBO's Hard Knocks, the New York Jets will look to enter the Super Bowl discussion with the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, running back Dalvin Cook and the return of a defensive core largely responsible for allowing the fourth-fewest points and yards last season.

With all the excitement around the Jets, they must show why they can topple the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East title.

Buffalo has won the division for three consecutive years, but Moton has some concerns about the way its 2022 season came to an end in the playoffs.

"To reiterate a point made on Boy Green Daily with Paul Esden Jr., the Bills trended in the wrong direction at the end of the 2022 campaign, which ended in a 27-10 AFC divisional-round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals," he said. "In two playoff games, Josh Allen threw for three touchdowns, three interceptions and completed less than 60 percent of his passes in both games.

"Allen has MVP potential because of his big arm and willingness to run over defenders on the move outside the pocket, but he has a tendency to go through rough stretches and throw head-scratching interceptions. The Jets' stingy defense will capitalize on those mistakes.

"In the Monday Night Football spotlight, Rodgers shines with his new team and immediately raises the standard with a three-touchdown-performance against a Bills defense without Von Miller and a big question mark at linebacker following the loss of Tremaine Edmunds in free agency."

Predictions

Davenport: Bills

Gagnon: Bills

Hanford: Bills

Knox: Bills

Moton: Jets

O'Donnell: Bills

Sobleski: Jets

ATS Consensus: Bills

SU Consensus: Bills

Score Prediction: Bills 26, Jets 21

Bills deserve the benefit of the doubt....

But

1) I think when fully healthy we're the better overall team.

2) I think we matchup particularly well against the Bills -- our defense gave Allena a tough time in both games last year

and

3) I just think the "vibes" around the Jets seem awesome while the "vibes" around the Bills feel off.

I could be proven wrong but I feel pretty optimistic about this one.

I heard on talk radio the rifft with Stefon Diggs is over Josh Allen. Josh (apparently) is not an Alpha Competitor....doesn't spend a ton of time preparing, and is fine going off talent. Diggs blamed the Bills' falloff last season with Josh being unprepared. Hopefully Josh spent the off season working on his golf game.

Not a surprise.  The league is sleeping on the Jets D.  Jefferson and Woods are a big upgrade and JJ is ready to breakout. The o-line concern was overblown too.

Look for teams to make the adjustment against the Jets defense.   1. No huddle on offense - to force Jets not to be able to substitute freely . ( force these defenders to play a lot longer than they are used to.   2. Qb takes three step drop and the ball is out - doesn’t matter what defense line you have not enough time to get to any Qb.

This board has spent the entire offseason whining about the lack of respect from various media pundits.

Thankfully that all ends in 3 days. The time for talking is over. The fans and the team want the narrative to change? Start winning.

Nice way of saying that Bleacher report is just a bunch of Jets haters.

3x division champ vs the NFL team with longest playoff drought with several new pieces on the team. Not really going out on a limb picking the bills…

with that being said, our defense matches up pretty well vs the bills offense. Bills are about explosive chunk plays. Jets are good at limiting those. The way to beat the bills is to make Allen throw the ball and make the mistakes. Make them score by having long drives. The longer the drive the better the chance you can force an Allen turnover. I like our chances.

Although the willfully blind and those whose views are colored by the Jets sordid history can't see it, the foundation for the Jets 20-0 SB winning season will be set in place Monday night with a 35-0 trouncing of the Bills. Josh Allen will be removed from the game in the 4th quarter for his safety.

Gird your loins because we are about to witness a season of historic importance.

The Jets use nickel as their base defense. If you tried to run quick game out of the no huddle, you’d run 60 plays, score 12 points, and all of your receivers would have advanced CTE by the middle of the third quarter.

If the Bills attack our lbs and safeties and Allen runs a lot they have a decent chance.

If they try and play a normal nfl offense and try to get diggs his touches' the jets will clobber them.

All the news coming out of Bills camp is that they want to be a more traditional offense and use the middle part of the field more with James Cook and Dalton Kincaid, which sounds nice in theory, but relying on a smaller receiving TE who played in the Pac 12 Conference to significantly threaten NFL defenses is a big ask.

Bills. Aging, declining, fell on their faces year after year getting to the dance. All with a future journeyman and almost draft bust QB.

Us. Young, ascending, won the big one and about to win a few more soon. Now with a four time FOUR TIME league MVP with an astonishing small turnover rate that many believe is the greatest to ever throw a football. All with a cohesive young team full of top tier talent.

My prediction:

Jets 50. Bills 6.

I’m looking for the Jets to score 300 against the division this year.

So when Mahomes and KC lost to Tampa in SB bc his line couldn’t protect him, why didn’t he just take 3 step drops?

This will change if Rodgers is the Rodgers from two years and not last year.

We'll know a lot about what we have Monday night.

our guys run crisp routes and use NFL receiver gloves (aka sticky rat traps), the league must just enforce the new mercy rule, a la wrestling tech fall.
