Jets inquired about Matt Stafford when Rodgers talk stalled

Gist of the story is that the Jets “and other teams” called the Rams about Stafford and were all quickly rebuffed. Guessing the reason this is coming out now is because the Rams would actually love to trade you Matt Stafford at this point because it sounds like Cooper Kupp is shot and they want to jump into the Caleb Williams sweepstakes.

Pretty funny report since there were others saying the rams were trying to trade stafford to get away from his salary. The jets probably did see what it would cost for stafford and the rams were asking for too much.

JD and any GM in the market for a QB was doing their due diligence and seeing what the market value was for any other potential QB trades...

Of course Ian has been sitting on this for four months...

If the Jets called, it was to see how cheap they might’ve gotten him for should the Rodgers thing have blow up.

JD was covering their bases in case the Rodgers deal fell through.  Plus we have no idea what GB was initially demanding in a trade.  They might have been insisting on two firsts and more.  
Stafford also would have given the Jets more leverage with their talks with GB

Rodgers had an albatross contract, hated the organization, and they had a first round pick waiting to take over and we still paid quite a bit. Stafford would have costed us picks.

next were going to find out they were going to sign Baker Mayfield and coax Tim Tebow out of retirement cause anybody with a heartbeat was better than what we have.

No surprise here. The mission for the offseason was to find a QB who could win games. You can't bank on a team selling off a HOF QB without one or more backups. I'm sure there were calls made to more than just the two teams and Carr's camp.

You just went from Rodgers and Stafford to Mayfield and Tebow, and then use that to claim the Jets don't have a plan for Wilson.

There are many better and more credible arguments, and  having Wilson learn from the likes of Rodgers and Stafford is not one of them. In fact, it reinforces the idea of a plan.
