JD made a big bet and lost.

It happens.

In the coming weeks we can discuss if it was a reasonable gamble, but the end result is an unmitigated disaster.

Here is what JD has spent on Zach, Mims, Becton, Moore and Rodgers. Who collectively have done nothing for this club.

- 2020 first round pick (No. 11)

- 2020 second round pick (No. 59)

- 2021 first round pick (No. 2)

- 2021 second round pick (No. 34)

- 2023 first-round pick (No. 13 - swap)

- 2023 second-round pick (No. 42)

- 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207)

- 2024 second-round pick (TBD)

- $120M+ guaranteed

Imagine the squad a competent GM could build with this haul!!!

Moving back in the first, missing out on needed players in the process and two 2nd round picks for the last 4 plays of Rodgers career. This might go down as the single worst trade in NFL history. Gotta hand it to him, JD is really rising to the level of the title of Jets General Manager.

The worst part is he literally bid against himself to get him.

This thread should really be coming from @kevinc855

Any word on whether he heckled JD postgame tonight?

Wait wait wiat I got it this is a grand scheme cooked up by JD Rogers and Saleh ...lets fake an achilles Injury get our first round pick back next year then let Rodgers come back next year with that much needed WR pick early in the first round when Zach goes 3-14

All the euphoria coming out of 1JD and the national media bootlicking the franchise for the 1st time ever was an ominous sign

This felt too good to be true because it was

Rodgers ain’t coming back from this

It takes 2 full years to recover from an Achilles and have a shot at being any semblance of one’s old self

42-year old Rodgers comeback tour ain’t happening

Jets could have just done the simple thing and drafted Mahomes instead of a prima-Donna box safety

Or tanked for Trevor Lawrence

But this franchise can’t get out of its own way

They lose when you want them to win and win when the only thing you want / need them to do is lose

It’s absolutely sickening…

And we were the only team bidding for him! Great job JD! Well done!

If he never plays another snap for us, he will go down alongside Stephen Strasburg of my Nationals as one of the worst personnel/contract decisions in the history of sports.

Strasburg got a 7 year / $245,000,000 deal after the 2019 World Series.

The Nationals have received a total of a 1-4 record, a 10.00+ ERA and a grand total of 31 1/3 innings pitched since then.

Make no mistake, if Rodgers is indeed done, our trade and contract for him will live on forever alongside Stras as one of the worst decisions ever made in sports management.

Enjoy JD this year folks, he's likely done after this season as our GM, along with Saleh.

Woody Johnson will not extend him after this make or break year after his all-in-on-Rodgers gamble failed so spectacularly.

I can answer that for you now. The "gamble" on Rodgers was absolutely reasonable in itself. The HUGE problem was the idiotic gamble in this oline.

Not having a cheap, competent, boring vet on the roster was also an unreasonable refusal to insure such a large investment

Well that's the issue isn't it.

You can't bring in an aging 40 year old QB and not have a far above average OL - capable of  protecting him.  If you're brining in a guy like Rodgers then the OL needs to be by far the biggest priority.

If you know you won't be able to bolster the OL then you don't get the player.

I think Enunwa holds that “honor.” Signed an extension the day before going on IR and never played again.

Result: $36M for zero snaps.

No words to express how idiotic Maccagnan was

Too many bad decisions to cite here

I was just thinking the other day about how he traded for Demario Davis to bring him back from CLE, the dude has a career year with the Jets, and then Macc proceeds to let him walk the following season for nothing

Demario is currently one of the best LBs in the game
