Trusting Wilson

If this staff doesn't open up the playback, because they don't trust Wilson, then they have a helkyva lot of nerve sending him out there. Open up the playback for him and let the chips fall whey're they may. Or get another QB. This week. Thank you.

Agree 100% but also get why they were playing it close to the vest last night given the way the game was going.

This was the agreed upon setup. Wilson gets to stay on the roster, organization pumps up his “progress” and secretly pray to god he doesn’t have to see the field. Look at how they handled him in preseason. They were so scared he’d sh*t himself they ran run-run-screen in games where W/L didn’t matter.

They need to be called out on that. Having a backup QB, you can win with, is rather important. Closing your eyes and praying for the best with your starter,  is totally irresponsible.

Wilson has given ZERO indication that he can be trusted to lead a team week after week.  Bad QB's don't magically become good in the NFL. It just doesn't happen any more.  Wilson is BAD, and that might be putting it mildly. If the Jets are serious about being a playoff team this season, Wilson cannot be the QB.  JD should be on the phone with every FA QB and GM this morning.

I would run the ball 100 times vs Dallas and hope for a Breece Hall explosive, a bunch of FGs, a defensive TD, etc.

Better chance of winning that way than trusting ZW

Zach Wilson dropping back with a “sling it around” mentality against that defense is a recipe for disaster

1985 strategy?

What I want to see from Wilson is just him taking what the defense gives him. Use his legs don’t just run backwards. Make the layup throws, take and make timely deep shots. If he can at least complete 60% of his throws and lean into that run game, and the defense can consistently force turnovers and short fields we can get by with Wilson.

Peyton mocking ZW

Honestly, regardless of what you think of ZW, the Mannings come accross as a bunch of ******* assholes here. Mocking a backup QB coming in off the bench against a really good defense?

Did they mock Josh Allen and his 4 turnovers?

**** them! I know ZW is everyone heres favorite wooping boy, but what a couple of a$$hole deuche bags

They were pretty rough on Allen.

Zach had no reps with the first team.  That is doubly important because he wasn't prepared for the specific game-plan for the Bills.  They were, also, having offensive line problems.  Being at the game, I could see the Bills were winning virtually every matchup.  They were focused on mistake free play.  That was a key to the win.

I watched the manning cast.  At the end of the game they said Zach did a good job.  But, they do like to crack jokes about everyone on the field, including themselves. You just have to take everything they say with a grain of salt.

You are 100% right.  We know teams are going to stack the box and dare Wilson to throw.  He is going to have to throw the ball to loosen up the defense enough for the Jets to run effectively.

If he can’t do it, then get somebody you believe can … like a Winston.

This isn’t rocket science.

1. Roll him out of the pocket early in the game

2. Play action on some first and second downs

3. Screen game against the blitz

4. Maybe a couple trick plays

5. Flood the middle zone with tight ends

6. Occasional deep ball

7. Avoid run run pass, rinse repeat

8. Maybe go up tempo

If the Bills were winning virtually every matchup, that’s extremely concerning.

Their DLine is middle of the road without Miller.

I agree - training wheels off .. let him throw a couple picks .. but by god .. let him play football. I honestly think it needs to be 3 step drops 1 read options next week.  Dallas' D will crumble Zach into small little pieces behind that crap OL. Run blocking ... not bad .. pass protection ... nosferatu scary.

The Mannings should stick to what they know and commenting is not what they know.  Not understanding the approach when a backup QB faces an elite competitor is ignorant.  As far as the play,  Peyton never faced a rush like that in his life.  By the time Zach faded back, there were three guys in his face.  The Mannings would take the sack- absolutely every time.  Zach rolled out, avoided the rush and threw the ball away.

If Zach had Peyton's O-line, he could send out for coffee while Garrett Wilson cam all the way across the field to present a wide open target.  If Peyton had Zach's o-line, he would have been broken in half, Ala Mike White, several times.

They guys sound like my old man, barking at the TV.  He only understands results.  The Mannngs should know better.  Jerks!!!!!!!

Agree, this is a solid plan, but pounding the running game needs to be added.  It slows the rush, tires the defense in the 4th quarter and drops the safety into the box.  A crossing pattern to Garrett Wilson should be wide open with lots of green.

With 8-9 in the box, there are too many to fool very often with a screen.

If they stack the box, hit the 1 on 1 with Garrett.  If the safety and or LB's drop in zones, pound the line.  If a LB or safety blitzes, quick hit to vacant zone.  They need to run the ball 40 times a game and use the passing game to keep them honest and maybe hit a big play.  The running game will disguise the crappy pass protection and take the legs out of the pass rushers.

I watch them too, and its one thing to crack jokes about yourself, or a HOF player, its another thing to pick on a backup QB who is down and out, it was a dick head move

Luckily next week is against an NFC team so if we have to deal with a nightmare loss, it won't be bad. With another trade or signed QB this week learning the playbook before the Patriots matchup if ZW struggles

Rooting for ZW but there will still be pains tbh
